Direct connection and Spider connection

     In FineBI 5.1.5 and later versions, the "direct connection" and "spider" data are independent, and joint analysis is no longer possible between the two parts of the data.

    Users can choose the engine they need after understanding the two types of "direct connection" and "real-time".

    2. Introduction to Direct Connection and Spider Engine

    2.1 Spider Engine 

    Spider engine: supports data extraction function, and can extract data into FineBI's Spider engine for analysis through data update.

    Advantage:

    • Local data warehouse: Support cross-database fetching, multi-table merging and other functions, saving the cost of data warehouse for enterprises.

    • Performance advantage: The computing performance of extracted data is fast, which can meet the rapid analysis of large data volume, help customers solve data performance problems well, support self-service analysis, and improve users' analysis and viewing experience.

    • 2.2 Direct connect engine

    Direct connect engine: supports real-time data function, can directly connect to the user's database, does not require data update, real-time analysis.

    Advantage:

    • Direct connection to big data platform: At present, many enterprises have more professional big data platforms, and data retrieval through the direct connection engine can ensure data analysis performance while avoiding data resource redundancy.

    • Meet real-time data requirements: The direct-connected engine fetches data in real time, and can refresh data at the highest millisecond level, meeting users' requirements for real-time data.

    3. The spider engine and the data directly connected to the engine do not support association

    Spider engine and direct connection engine data do not support association, which fundamentally solves the system stability problem caused by memoryization caused by user misoperation.

    Memoization refers to loading all table data into memory for calculation. In order to avoid excessive memory pressure on FineBI projects, it is recommended that the memoization function be used for directly connected tables with small data volume and low update frequency. However, in historical versions, enterprise users often associate a large amount of data with a "directly connected real-time table" and a "spider extraction table". To achieve the association, it is necessary to pull the directly connected data and spider data into memory for calculation before execution. , which causes the memory to carry the computational pressure of a large amount of data, and the memory is too high, which affects the stability of the system.

    Therefore, in order to avoid the above situation, it was decided to split the "Spider Engine" and "Direct Connection Engine" in FineBI 5.1.5 version, which does not allow the data between the two engines to correlate with each other, and improves the stability and performance experience of the system.

    4. Compatibility Notes

    If the old user used the function of direct connection and spider data association in the historical version, the association will disappear automatically after the upgrade.
