Partitioned line chart

1. Overview

1.1 Application scenario

The partitioned line chart is used to view the change trend of data by sub region and sub indicator. The following figure shows the comparison of wind speed trend between the two cities in the same period:

The basic requirments for partitioned line chart:

1.3 Feature of charts

Advantages: it clearly shows the increase and decrease trend, rate, law, peak value and other characteristics of different indicators under the current dimension. It is suitable for displaying large data sets without multiple lines being superimposed.

Disadvantages: it is not suitable for displaying multi category data.

2.Example

2.1 Create components

2.1.1 Data preprocessing

1）Download sample data:

Click "Data Preparation", select "My Packages" → "Add Table" → "Excel Dataset", as shown in the following figure:

2) Upload "Compare wind speed.xlsx", take the table name as "Compare wind speed1" , and click "OK", as shown in the figure below:

2.1.2 Create the chart

1) Click "Dashboard", select "New Dashboard", and click "OK", as shown in the following figure:

2) Click "Add component", select the "Compare wind speed" under "My Packages", and click "OK", as shown in the following figure:

3) Drag the "Time" under the "Dimension" into the horizontal axis, and the fields "City A" and "City B" under the "indicator" into the vertical axis.

4) Select "Partitioned Line Chart" in "chart type" to create it successfully.

Note: the partition line chart can be selected only if there are more than or equal to 1 dimension and more than or equal to 1 indicator field in the horizontal and vertical axis, otherwise the partition line chart under the chart type will be grayed and cannot be clicked.

5) Drag the "TargetName" under the dimension of the area to be analyzed into the "color" bar. As shown in the figure below:

2.2 Graphic properties setting

2.2.1 Color

After selecting the chart type, it will automatically switch to "line" under the "Graphic Properties". Click the "color" of the "Graphic Properties" to set different colors for the lines of the two cities, as shown in the following figure:

At the same time, you can set"tag", "prompt", "fine-grained", etc. For more details, see: "Graphic Properties".

2.2.2 Connection

Click the "Connection", select the line as "Curve", and choose the "marker" as "None":

2.3 Component style settings

Click "component style", select "adaptive display", and click "Overall adaptation". As shown in the figure below:

You can also set the "Legend", "network grid", "background", "axis", etc. For more details, see the file: "Chart component style".

2.4 Field settings in analysis area

Click the drop-down box of the "Time (Year Month Day)" field, select set classification axis, uncheck the "Display axis" label, and click "OK", as shown in the following figure:

Dimension field settings can be used for chart sorting, chart grouping, chart filtering, chart axis setting, etc.
