A scatter chart is one of the most common types of graphs used in scientific mapping, usually for displaying and comparing values, using a series of scatter points to show the distribution of variables in a right-angle coordinate system, which can be observed to find the relationship and correlation between the two. The following figure shows the distribution of height and weight for a group of people, with red representing women and blue representing men.
Basic requirements for scatter charts
Advantages: It can show the distribution and aggregation of data, and is suitable for showing larger data sets.
Disadvantages: mainly used to observe correlation, distribution, and aggregation, all other information cannot be well displayed.
1)Download the sample data Height and weight distribution.xlsx, click Data Preparation, select My self-service dataset, and add the EXCEL dataset, as follows.
2)Upload the downloaded Height and weight distribution.xlsx, take the table name Height and weight distribution, select the serial number as text in the field typesetting, and click OK, as shown in the following figure.
3)Click on the Dashboard Tab, select New Dashboard, and click OK, as shown in the following figure.
4)Click New Component, select Height and weight distribution under My Self-Service Dataset Business Package, and click OK, as shown in the following figure.
5)Drag Gender under the dimension of the region to be analyzed into the horizontal axis, and drag the fields Height and Weight under the indicator into the vertical axis.
6)Select a Scatter chart in the chart type, as shown in the following figure.
Note: The Scatter chart must have more than or equal to 1 dimension and more than or equal to 1 indicator field in the horizontal and vertical axes to be selected, otherwise the Scatter chart under the chart type will be grayed out and unclickable.
7)Drag the Gender from the horizontal axis into the color of the graph properties, the serial number field from the dimension of the area to be analyzed into the fine granularity, and the Height (summation) from the vertical axis into the horizontal axis.
1)After selecting the chart type, Graphic Properties automatically switches to point chart, click on the color bar, respectively, set men and women Gender display color, the effect is shown in the following figure.
For more information, see Graphic Properties - Colors
Click on the Size column to fine-tune the radius of the data points, as shown below.
You can also set tag, shape, prompt, fine-grained, etc. See also: Graphic Properties
You can also set the legend, gridlines, background, adaptive display, etc. of the component, see: Chart Component Styles for details
1)Click on the Height (summation) drop-down box, select the numeric format, set the unit suffix to cm, and click OK.
2)Click the Height (summation) drop-down box, select Set Value Axis (lower value axis), click Pick Axis Scale Custom, set the minimum value to MIN (Height (summation)) -5, the maximum value to MAX (Height (summation)) +5, click OK.
3)Click on the Weight (summation) drop-down box, select the value format, set the unit suffix to kg, and click OK.
4)Click the Weight (summation) drop-down box, select Set Value Axis (lower value axis), click Select Axis Scale Custom, set the minimum value to MIN (Weight (summation)) -5, the maximum value to MAX (Weight (summation)) +5, click OK.
You can also set the legend, gridlines, background, adaptive display, etc. of the component, see: Chart Component Style for details
Select the corresponding dashboard, click Preview, and the chart is shown below.
