Rectangular block chart

1. Overview

1.1 Application scenario

A rectangular block chart shows the distribution of different data points in the form of rectangular blocks. A rectangular block chart can show the size of the corresponding index value by color or size of the rectangular block. For example, it shows the distribution of access time for different access platforms and access phases, the longer the access time, the darker the color. As shown in the following figure.

1.2 Function introduction

It can be seen at a glance which stage of the user's visit is the longest under different platforms.

2. Operation steps

2.1 Create a dashboard

Selct dataset "test_for_rectangular_block_chart" to create a new dashboard.

1）Create a new dashboard, shown as below.

2）Select Add Component, as shown below.

3）Selct dataset "test_for_rectangular_block_chart" to create a new dashboard.

2.2 Create a component

Create a Rectangular block chart using custom charts.

1）Select "Custom Chart" and choose "Rectangular Block" in the Shape selection field under Graph Properties. Drag and drop the fields under Dimension "Platform" to the horizontal axis and the field "Last Stage" to the vertical axis as shown below.

2）At this time, a rectangular block is displayed at the chart preview, but the rectangular block does not show the access time distributed in the access phase and platform, so we drag the "Total stay time" field under the indicator into the "Graph Properties" under "Color", indicating that the color in the chart is displayed according to the access dwell time. As shown in the figure below.

Note: In addition to placing the "total stay time" indicator field in the "Color" property, you can also place it in the "Size" property to indicate that the size of the rectangular block in the chart is displayed according to the stay time of the visit. As shown in the figure below.

2.3 Component beautification

Select "Color" in "Gracphic Properties" and adjust the color "Gradient Scheme" to "Modern", as shown below.

Under "Component Style", switch the "Adaptive Display" rule to "Overall Adaptation" to see the overall effect of the created Rectangular block chart at the chart preview, as shown in the following figure.

Note: Rectangular block chart supports settings of color, size, label, hint, fine granularity, Component Style, etc.. Please refer to Gracphic Properties and Chart Component Style for details.

3. Effect view

3.1 PC side

Go to the Dashboard screen to see the effects of the components, see section 1.1 of this document for details.

3.2 Mobile side

The effect on the mobile side is shown in the following figure.

4. Other scenarios

4.1 Swap the fields of the horizontal and vertical axes

The chart supports swapping the fields of the horizontal and vertical axes, just click the "Swap fields of horizontal and vertical axes" button at the horizontal and vertical axes. The effect is shown in the following figure.

4.2 Multiple dimensions/indicators situation

The horizontal and vertical axes also support dragging in multiple fields to display multiple indicators in multiple dimensions, for example, then displaying the distribution by year.

Drag "date" into the position before the visit phase, and set it to group by "year". As shown in the figure below.
