Excel update does not follow business package update and global update

    5.1.9

    2021-01-06

Support multi-sheet import; change "Append Upload" and "Re-upload" to "Append Data" and "Replace Data"

Note: For versions of BI prior to 2020-01-15, both methods of updating Excel need to ensure that the re-uploaded Excel table is consistent with the original version, and the table structure is consistent, that is, field name and field order are consistent. Users with data table editing permissions can modify the original field type and then update when updating Excel.

    1.2 Application scenario

When users need to update Excel, they can use the "Update Excel" function.

    1.3 Feature introduction

Supports "Append Data" and "Replace Data" operations.

    • Append Data: refers to adding incremental data on the basis of the previously uploaded Excel data sheet.

    • Replace Data: refers to uploading a new Excel to replace the previously uploaded data.

Note 1: When modifying the field type in the Excel dataset, whether in the table editing interface or updating the Excel interface, the last modified type will take effect.

Note 2: The Excel dataset does not support real-time update.

    2. Steps

    1) Enter "Data Preparation", select the Excel dataset you want to update, and click "Update Excel", as shown in the figure below:

Note: Only the Excel dataset with editing permission will have the "Update Excel" button.

    2) Enter the Excel update page, you can see that there are two update methods: "Append Data" and "Replace Data".

    2.1 Append data

Append data is that Excel data to be uploaded will be added as new data after the original data. The additional data will not affect the previous original data.

    1) Select the Excel to be appended, and click "Open", as shown in the figure below:

    3.png

    2) Users need to check the sheet they need. If the Excel only has one sheet, just upload it directly. Click "OK", as shown in the figure below:

    4.png

    3) After the data is added successfully, it prompts "Excel appended data success!", and you can see the added data at the end. As shown below:

    5.png

    Upload logic of appending data

    Situations

    Methods

There is a new field in the append table (the new field is different from all the field names in the original table)

Ignore the new field, do not append data to the original table

Missing field in the append table (the field is in the original table, but there is no field name in the append table to match with it)

In the part of the appended data after upload, the value corresponding to this field in the original table is null

The field type in the appended table is different from the field type of the original table

Convert to the type of the original table according to the field type

    Duplicate fields in appended table

Correspond to the order in which the fields appear

    2.2 Replace data

Re-uploading refers to replacing data with newly uploaded Excel data.

    1) Click "Update Excel > Replace Data" and select the Excel to replace the data, as shown in the figure below:

    6.png

    2) The user selects the sheet he needs to upload and clicks "OK". As shown below:

    7.png

    3) After uploading successfully, it prompts "Excel upload succeeded!", and successfully replaces the data, as shown in the following figure:

    8.png

    Upload logic of replacing data

    Situations

    Methods

There is a new field in the replacement table (the new field is the field whose name is different from all the field names in the original table)

    Add the field

Missing fields in the replacement table (there are fields in the original table, and there is no field with the same field name in the replacement table)

After uploading successfully, the field values are null

The field type in the replacement table is different from the field type in the original table

Convert to the current Excel type according to the field type conversion rules

Duplicate fields in the replacement table

Corresponding in the order of appearance of the fields, that is, re-uploading will not change the order of the original field names
