Date dimension drilling

1. Overview

1.1 Expected effect

When viewing data with date as the dimension, sometimes it is necessary to drill (drill down) on year-month-day to obtain more detailed information, as shown in the following figure:

1.2 Implementation ideas

Copy the date dimension, take the display of Year, Year-Month, Year-Month-Day respectively, and create a drill directory.

2. Example

The example uses Demo data "Store sales data statistics".

2.1 Copy date dimension

1) Use the "Store sales data statistics" to add component. Copy the two date dimensions "Sale date", as shown in the figure below:

2) Name the two dimensions "Sale date - Year Month" and "Sale date - Year Month Day" as shown in the figure below:

2.2 Set drill directory

1) Select in the "Sale date" field "Drop down>Create a drill directory". As shown below:

2) Drag "Sale date - Year Month" and "Sale date - Year Month Day" into the drill directory, as shown in the following figure:

2.3 Making a chart

1) Drag the drill directory into the dimension, and drag the "Sales" field into the indicator, as shown in the figure below:

2) Set date grouping.

Click  to switch the drill directory, and set the "Sale date" to be grouped as "Year", "Sales date - Year Month" to be "Year Month", "Sales date - Year Month Day" to be "Year Month Day". As shown below:

The settings of "Sales date - Year Month" to be "Year Month" and "Sales date - Year Month Day" are the same as above.

3) Switch the drill directory back to "Sale Date", as shown in the figure below:
