Self-service dataset referst to processed tables. Users can create self-service datasets to conduct self-service exploration and analysis related to business based on existing data, thus transforming the original data into the data they need.
According to different properties, self-service dataset can be divided into those of "analyzing property" and of "processing property".
Self-service dataset of processing property refer to self-service dataset created by "data processing users" under the common business package.
Self-service dataset of analyzing property: self-service dataset created by "data analyzing users", as well as dataset created by "data processing users" under "User self-service dataset".
For details on the conception of user, you can refer to: BI design users.
From Section 1.2, we know that "data processing users" can create two types of self-service datasets. Under what circumstances should we use these two self-service datasets?
First of all, you need to understand the characteristics of these two self-service datasets:
Smaller than that of "self-service dataset of processing property"
For details, please refer to: Data Limit.
You can assign row and column permission to "self-service data set of processing property";
"Permission inheritance" is forbidden.
In summary, according to the above table, in one of the following three situations, users should choose "self-service data set of processing property". In other situations, they should choose to use "self-service data set of analyzing property".
When users need to use "self-service dataset'' to process tables with mass data.
When user need to configure rank permission for the created "self-service dataset''.
When userd need to associate "self-service dataset" with other tables ( if you need to select "extract data" in extraction settings of self-service dataset, please refer to: extraction settings).
Check blood analysis. If the creator of the self-service dataset under "Descendants/Dashboard" is a "data analyzing user", the current table must be self-service dataset of analyzing property.
For example, "Lisa", the creator of "Lisa's self-service dataset1", is a "data analyzing user". Thus the table created is a table of analyzing property, as shown in the following figure:
If you are not sure whether the creator of the current table has changed the user type, you can switch the table to the "Extract Data" state under "Update Information> Extract Settings". If you can create an association, then it is "self-service data set of processing property". Otherwise, it is"self-service data set of analyzing property".
For example, after self-service dataset1 is switched to the "extract data" state, the association can be established. Thus it is "self-service dataset of processing property", as shown in the figure below:
As for self-service datasets created with "Extract Data" basic table, those with "intelligence recommendation" are "self-service datasets of analyzing property", while those without are "self-service datasets of processing property".
For example, "Lisa's self-service dataset" is self-service dataset using "extract data" as the basic table. If there is intelligence recommendation, it is self-service dataset of analyzing property, as shown in the figure below:
Those with the permission to inherit are "self-service datasets of analyzing property", while those without are "self-service datasets of processing property".
"Self-service dataset of analyzing property" uses "all data" for calculation by default, which can be manually adjusted to use the first 5000 rows of data for calculation, as shown in the figure below:
"Self-service dataset of processing property"
If the base table applies extracted data, the first 20000 rows of data will be calculated by default and cannot be adjusted.
If the basic table is real-time data, the first 20,000 rows of data will be used for calculation by default, and manual adjustment to use all data for calculation is supported.
Theproperty of self-service dataset is determined when it is successfully created for the first time. The property of the table will not be changed by moving the business package, saving it as a business package, or changing the user type.
When conducting fields selection and left and right merge to produce self-service dataset, those of data processing property cannot select self-service datasets of analyzing property that have been created.
When performing fields selection and left and right merge on self-service dataset, if self-service dataset of processing property is selected, you can no longer select self-service dataset of analyzing property, and vice versa.
For example, "User Information" is self-service dataset of processing property (created by data processing users under a normal business package), as shown in the following figure:
"Self-service dataset1" is self-service dataset of analyzing property created under "User;s package", as shown in the figure below:
After selecting the fields of the table "User Information", you cannot select the fields under "Self-service dataset1", as shown in the figure below:
Similarly, after the fields of the table "User Information" have been selected during left and right merge, data under "Self-service dataset1" cannot be selected, as shown in the following figure:
Create new datasets of the same property, which means creating datasets under the corresponding business package of "User self-service data set" or under the normal business package, in order to ensure that the two self-service datasets have the same property.
Problem :
When performing left and right merge, you cannot see the self-service datasets you have made in the data list.
Solutions:
1) Check whether the table is updated for the first time.
2) Check whether it tallys with Section 3.2 ( saying self-service dataset of processing property cannot use self-service dataset of analyzing property).
Considering BI Version 5.1 has upgraded to the 2019-07 or 2020-01-15 version , self-service datasets are compatible with self-service datasets of processing property. Users are designed to be compatible with data analyzing users.
