Replace the database source of the table

1.1 Description

When a user uses a data connection to add a dataset from a type of database and performs some data analysis, and hoping to be able to use the original dataset and dashboard in BI after replacing the source database of the database table.

1.2 Solutions

Replace the database source of all tables: Modify the configuration of the data connection.

Replace the database source of a table: Modify the data connection selected by the data table.

2.1 Requirement of the replacement

The table field names, escape names, and field types used in the database before and after the replacement are exactly the same.

2.2 Backup the project

Before replacing the database, you need to back up the webrootunder %FineBI%webapps/, as shown in the following figure:

If the replacement of the database source fails, replace it directly with the backed-up webroot.

This step is to prevent the subsequent operation error, causing the dashboard to fail.

2.3 Modify the data connection

2.3.1 The database type is same

Click "Manage>Data Connection>Data Connection Management", select the corresponding data connection, and modify the Host, Port, Database Name, Username and Password of the URL in the data connection, etc., as shown in the following figure:

2.3.2 The database type is different

1) Delete the original data connection, click "Manage>Data Connection>Data Connection Management", select the corresponding data connection, and click "Delete", as shown in the following figure:

2) To create a new data connection, you need to make sure that the name and case of the new data connection are the same as the original data connection name. For details, see: Configure Data Connection.

3.2 SQL dataset replaces database source

1) Click "Data Preparation", select corresponding business package, select the SQL table, and click "Modify SQL", as shown in the figure below:

2) Modify and select the desired data connection in the SQL editing interface. As shown below:
