Merge multiple indicators into other categories

1. Overview

1.1 Expected effect

When making statistics, you can focus on caculating respective proportions of top few data, and the remaining data can be combined for caculating.

For example, we can calculate the proportion of sales of the top three products and the proportion of other products.

1.2 Implementation ideas

The self-service dataset can be used to achieve classification, and products with a ranking of sales greater than 5 are classified as "Others".

2. Operation steps

Use the FRDemo data sheet "Sales_Volume".

2.1 Data preparation

1) Create a new self-service dataset and name it "Sales Ranking". Select fields for the self-service dataset, as shown in the following figure:

2) Perform Group Summary, set "Product" to "Merge same value as a group", select "Sales_Volume" for summary, and select "Sum" as summary method, as shown below:

3) Add a new column, enter the new column name "Rank" in the pop-up box, and select "descending ranking" to rank the sales in descending order. Click "OK", as shown below:

4) Add another "Grouping" column to keep the product names of the top three products in sales, and the rest are displayed as "Others". As shown below:

5) Click "OK", and the self-service dataset is shown in the figure below:

2.2 Make a dashboard

1) Use the self-service dataset "Sales Ranking" just created, drag "Grouping" into the horizontal axis and drag "Sales_Volume" into the vertical axis, and select the chart type as Pie Chart, as shown in the figure below:

The Pie Chart looks like this:

2) Drag "Sales_Volume" into the tab bar and click "Drop down>Quick Calculation>Current Indicator percentage", as shown below:

3) For the label "Sales_Volume", select "Drop-down> numeric format", and select "percentage" in the pop-up box, as shown in the figure below:

3. View the effect

The finished component shows the proportion of sales of the top three products and other products, as shown in the following figure:
