Excel Dataset Common Problems

Problem

Add an Excel dataset, make a self-service dataset from it, but one cannot add fields.

Analysis

The reason may be the conflict of Jar packages under the lib folder.

Solution

Enter the path %FineBI5.1%\webapps\webroot\WEB-INF\lib, you can delete the conflicting JAR packages.

Problem

When importing Excel (.xls file), blank data appears in the last columns or the last few rows. As shown below:

Analysis

There are blanks not deleted in the Excel.

Solution

There is no way to remove the blank cells after clearing the contents of the cells that have been added before. The only way to remove them is through the function of deleting cells in Excel.

Problem

Upload an Excel and save as a dataset. Delete one column in Excel, and re-upload it. The original field will turn blank.

Analysis

Rules for Excel re-uploading:

When a new field is added to Excel, it will be added when re-uploading.

When a field is deleted in Excel, the field will not disappear when re-uploading, and the field value will be displayed as empty.

Solution

Ignore the null value without affecting the use of the Excel data set, or add a new Excel data set, and upload the Excel after deleting the fields.

Problem

The excel data set with the suffix xls cannot be uploaded successfully.

Analysis

We support Excel files with the suffix xls and xlsx of the 03 and 07 versions, but do not support the Excel files with the suffix xls of Excel 5.0/95.

Problem

Add the excel data set, select the csv file, the upload fails, as shown in the following figure:

Analysis

There may be information leak for the type of csv files, so FineBI has introduced security measures.

Solution

Turn off "Security Management > File Upload Verification".

Law of Excel field type recognition:

• When the value length exceeds 15 digits, it will be recognized as a text, eg: 1234567891234567 will be recognized as a text type;

• Numbers beginning with 0 are not recognized as numbers.

Problem

In a cluster environment, an upload failure popup appears when importing excel, as shown in the following figure:

Solution

Change the nginx configuration. Reference path: /usr/nginx/conf/nginx.conf

Problem

Excel sometimes fails to upload to BI.

Analysis

Because the format of Excel is a special format, not universal (for the suffix name: xls).

Solution

Open and re-save the Excel to a common format.

Problem

Add an Excel dataset and save after editing. Then click re-upload, you cannot modify the field types in the edit view.

Analysis

Edit the saved excel data set.

Problem

Add an excel1, after editing and saving, upload a different excel2 again, the data preview of the upload interface and the preview data of the data preparation interface will be different.

Analysis

Edited after the first upload, so this table becomes ConfAnalysisEntryInfo with operator

When saving, the field generation will first generate all fields with childEntryInfo, and then filter it again according to the operator, so the new fields will not be uploaded again after saving.

Solution

Go to the data set editing interface and check the new field.

Problem

Upload the csv file and in the preview the Chinese garbled characters appear.

Analysis

As the csv file was damaged, there was a problem with the encoding of the file.

Problem

Save the csv file as a new csv file and upload it.
