Municipalities match geographic roles (cities)

1. Overview

1.1 Problem description

At present, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Taiwan, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region in BI map are all counted as provincial level.

When making a map, the user wants to put these regions together with prefecture level cities, but as a province level, they cannot be matched with prefecture level cities, as shown in the following figure:

So how can these areas directly match prefecture level cities? It will be described in detail below.

1.2 Solution ideas

Path to store map JSON file: %FR_HOME%\webapps\webroot\WEB-INF\assets\map\geographic\world\China\, add JSON files to these regions as prefecture level cities, as shown in the figure below:

2. Operation method

Take the Macao Special Administrative Region as an example, you can operate other regions  in the same way.

2.1 New JSON file

Undert the BI installation directory %FR_HOME%\webapps\webroot\WEB-INF\assets\map\geographic\world\China\, add 2 blank JSON files, as shown in the following figure:

2.2 Edit JSON file

1) Use the editor to open "Macau-area.json" and "Macau-point.json", and add the same code in these two blank files, as shown in the following figure:

The code is as follows:

2) Return to directory %FR_HOME%\webapps\webroot\WEB-INF\assets\map\geographic\world\ ,open "China-area.json", select and copy the feature structure of Macau Special Administrative Region into the features: [] array of "Macau-area.json", and save the file. As shown in the figure below:

3) Return to directory %FR_HOME%\webapps\webroot\WEB-INF\assets\map\geographic\world\, open "China-point.json", select and copy the feature structure of Macau Special Administrative Region into thefeatures: [] array of "Macau-point.json", and save the file. As shown in the figure below:

4) When the operation is complete, restart BI.

2.3 View the effect

2.3.1 Map configuration

Enter FineBI decision-making platform, click "Manage" → "Map Configuration"  → "Geographic Information" → "Area", add a new prefecture level city, "Macau", as shown in the figure below:

2.3.2 Match geographic location (city)

1) Click "Dashboard" on FineBI decision platform to create a "New Dashboard", as shown in the figure below:

2) Click "Add component" and select "area data" in the data list, as shown in the following figure:

3) Select "Geographic role" → "City" from the "Dimension" field "City"'s drop-down menu, as shown in the following figure:

4) It can be seen that "Macao" in the city field can be matched with "Macao" at the prefecture level, as shown in the following figure:
