Real-time data provides FineBI with a direct connection to the database to fetch data. After real-time data is selected in the data preparation, the table will no longer need to update the data to the local. It is directly connected to the database to fetch data through SQL, and all the data obtained is real-time data.

1.3 Rea-time data characteristics

The data table after real-time data is selected is the same as the table extracted locally: you can set the association, create a self-service dataset, create a dashboard, and so on.

However, directly connected database tables cannot be associated with other tables extracted locally. Both types of tables can be used in the same dashboard.

1.4 Precautions for using rea-time data

• It is not recommended to use a low-performance database, use the real-time mode under a large amount of data, such as MySQL with more than 10 million data.

• Excel dataset supports uploading xls, xlsx, csv format.

• Excel dataset does not support row-column conversion and self-circulating column.

1）Select "Data Preparation" and click the drop-down button in the data list to switch between "Spider" and "Direct". As shown below:

Users can add new groups, packages and tables under "real time".

2.1 Data preview

After adding the basic table under the real-time data, only the first 5000 pieces of data are displayed under the data preview of the single table. When used for calculations or as the base table of a self-service dataset/dashboard, all data retrieved from the database is used by default.

2.3 Associated view

The real-time data table cannot be associated with the extracted data table. For details, see: Associated View

Note: There is no update button in the real-time data table.

3.1 View the amount of data by default when editing

To view part of the data when editing, the first 1W data will be viewed by default, so there will be components that use real-time data. Clicking "View All Data" will not take effect.

3.2 Database and BI data are out of sync

Note: After selecting "Direct" in the data preparation, if the table structure is changed in the database (columns are added or decreased), the changes in the table structure will not be updated to the data preparation page in real time. You need to edit the table under the data preparation node, check the newly added fields, and uncheck the fields marked in red.

3.2.1 Problem phenomenon

The data in the database has changed, but the real-time data in the BI system has not changed.

3.2.2 Reason Analysis

BI has 5 minutes of data caching by default.

The data table is real-time data, and the "Cache Setting" is turned on in "Manage>System>General". After the database is updated, the related SQL dataset does not display the updated data in the data preview, as shown in the figure below :

However, the updated data is displayed in the preview interface of SQL, as shown in the following figure:

3.2.3 Solution

Turn off "Cache Setting" and the data will be consistent. At the same time, in order to avoid the data display problem after the database update caused by the cache setting, it is recommended that the database update is best selected during non-use time. As shown below:
