Support automatic upgrades of FineOps in an Internet-connected environment.
Arranged functions in separate rows.
FineOps has been constantly updated and iterated to meet customers' new needs and improve some functions of earlier versions.
Users with Internet access can upgrade FineOps using the One-Click Upgrade function.
1. Users on an internal network are advised to upgrade FineOps with the FineKey tool. For details, see Upgrading FineOps on the Internal Network.
2. You can review recent functional changes before upgrading FineOps.
This section describes how to manually upgrade FineOps when a new version is available.
To upgrade FineOps online manually, you must have the component images of FineOps of the new version for replacement. Ensure that the image repository allows you to pull images from the cloud.
For details, see Ensuring Access to FanRuan Cloud Repository.
When a new version is available and Automatic Upgrade is disabled, the New Version Available dialog box pops up after you log in to FineOps as the admin. You can click View Upgrade to go to the upgrade page.
You can also choose Platform Management > Update & Upgrade to check the current FineOps version and whether a new version is available.
FineOps cannot connect to the Internet, so the online upgrade is unavailable.
You are advised to upgrade FineOps with the FineKey tool. For details, see Upgrading FineOps on the Internal Network.
Click the New Version Available button to go to the upgrade page, where you can view the update log.
Click Upgrade Now to upgrade FineOps immediately.
The Upgrade Now button is grayed out during the upgrade, and the button text changes to Upgrading.
No progress bar is displayed during the upgrade. You can close this page to perform other tasks, which will not affect the upgrade. The following figure shows the effect.
Because Docker and FineOps have version compatibility requirements, the online upgrade is unavailable if the Docker engine version does not meet the upgrade requirements.
The dialog box will appear with the message "The version of the docker engine at the Node name node is too low, and online upgrade to a higher version is not supported currently. Use the tool to upgrade it offline."
For details about this upgrade solution, see Upgrading FineOps on the Internal Network.
After the successful upgrade, the prompt "Upgrade successfully." is displayed, the button becomes clickable again, and the button text changes to Restart Now. You can restart FineOps right now or later.
Click Restart Now to restart FineOps. FineOps is inaccessible until the restart is complete. Relogin is required after a successful restart.
After FineOps is upgraded, the latest O&M component images required by FineOps of the new version are automatically obtained. The overall FineOps upgrade is considered successful only after all O&M components are upgraded.
After FineOps is upgraded and restarted, the platform automatically upgrades O&M components requiring upgrades when you log in as the admin.
A dialog box appears with the message "The FineOps upgrade is at the final step, and this page will be automatically refreshed after the upgrade is completed. Do not close FineOps during the upgrade!"
Log in to FineOps as the admin and choose Platform Management > Update & Upgrade to view the version. Already Latest Version means that FineOps has been successfully upgraded.
From FineOps V2.20.0, automatic online upgrades are supported.
This section explains how to enable automatic upgrades and how this function works when a new version of FineOps is available.
To implement automatic online FineOps upgrades, you must have the component images of FineOps of the new version for replacement. Ensure that the image repository allows you to pull images from the cloud.
1. Log in to FineOps as the admin and choose Platform Management > Update & Upgrade.
2. Enable Automatic Upgrade, set the upgrade time, and click OK.
1. Automatic Upgrade is enabled by default, and the default upgrade time is 01:00:00 every Saturday.
2. You are advised to keep it enabled so that the latest FineOps logic can be applied to your applications promptly.
When a new version of FineOps is available and Automatic Upgrade is enabled, FineOps is automatically upgraded at the scheduled time.
When you log in to FineOps as an admin, a New Version Available dialog box appears. You can click Adjust Upgrade Time to change the upgrade time.
Whether the upgrade is performed manually or automatically, if the overall FineOps upgrade or the upgrade of some components fails, a dialog box appears after you log in to FineOps as an admin, indicating that the system failed to upgrade xx component and recommending that you upgrade it manually in O&M Component.
Overall FineOps upgrade failure: The upgrade failed. The retry will be performed in the next upgrade cycle. You can also contact the technical support personnel for help.
O&M component upgrade failure: Some components failed to be upgraded. Upgrade these components manually in O&M Component.
Click Refresh Page and then choose O&M Component > One-Click Upgrade to manually upgrade those components. Click Update & Upgrade, where you can view upgrade details.
The upgrade records show the versions before and after the upgrade, the image download time, the upgrade duration, the upgrade result, and the failure cause.
The following table lists possible failure causes and their solutions.
The automatic upgrade will fail if it runs simultaneously with operations on the project, such as backup, upgrade, deployment, scaling, and uninstallation, and the platform will retry the upgrade. If all five retries fail, the current upgrade is considered failed and will be retried in the next cycle.
For example, if an admin is scaling the project during the scheduled upgrade time on Saturday and all five retries fail, the upgrade is retried on the next Saturday.
If the message "Failed to upgrade xx component. Upgrade these components manually in O&M Component." appears, choose O&M Component > One-Click Upgrade to manually upgrade the remaining components.
