Overview
Problem Description
In practical applications, you often need to export data to Excel. In the document Export to Excel, three export methods have been introduced.
Export by all these export methods generates Excel 2003 files. However, Excel 2003 limits the maximum number of rows and columns per sheet, requiring splitting by sheet for exporting large volumes of data, which affects usability. Excel 2007 does not have this problem. So, how to export data to Excel 2007 files?
Note:1. The following solution applies to JAR packages released before October 10, 2016, which require importing the poi package. For JAR packages released after October 10, 2016, the poi package is already built into the third package.
2. Data cannot be exported to Excel 2007 on mobile terminals.
Solution
To export data to Excel 2007 files or import Excel 2007 files, you need to import a JAR package named poi2007_fat.jar first.
Copy poi2007_fat.jar to FineReport installation directory\webapps\webroot\WEB-INF\lib.
Note:The JDK version supported by the FineReport 10.0 designer is JDK 1.8 with an update release of JDK 8u102 or higher.
For JAR packages released before August 26, 2016, download poi2007_fat.zip.
For JAR packages released from August 26, 2016, to October 10, 2016, download New_poi2007_fat.zip.
For JAR packages released after October 10, 2016, the poi package has been integrated into the third package, so no download is required.
Example
Before poi2007_fat.jar is imported, the default extension for Excel files exported from FineReport is .xls (Excel 2003). Take the export from the designer as an example: The following figure shows the file extension.

After poi2007_fat.jar is imported, FineReport supports exporting data to Excel 2007 files, with the default extension being .xlsx (Excel 2007). Take the export from the designer as an example: The following figure shows the file extension.

Note:1. If the row-based engine is enabled, the templates will still be exported as Excel 2003 files.
2. The above note applies to the three export methods mentioned in the "Problem Description" section.
Precautions
FineReport V11.5.1 allows export interruption if the disk space is insufficient. If the disk space is insufficient before or during the export, an error message will be reported:
Before the export: "Since the available disk space is less than {} GB, you cannot start export. Clean the disk or contact the administrator and try again."
During the export: "Since the available disk space is less than {} GB, the system has terminated the export. Free up enough space and try again."
