  • I. Overview

    1) The Checkbox Group widget enables you to check one or more options.

    2) Considering options are explicitly displayed on the parameter pane, it is more suitable to use the Radio Button Group widget in the query scenario with fewer options.

    II. Steps

    1. Drag the widget

    1) Click on the Checkbox Group widget and drag it into the parameter pane. The widget name defaults to checkBoxGroup0.

    2) You are allowed to change the widget name. The widget name is used to bind the widget to a certain parameter. Specifically, the widget will be bound to a parameter when they have the same name. In the Preview mode, the values selected with the widget will be passed to the parameter.

    2. Disable the widget

    1) Check [Enabled]. In the Preview mode, you are allowed to check the options the widget displays.

    2) Uncheck [Enabled]. In the Preview mode, the widget has a shallow color and you are not allowed to check the options the widget displays.

    3. Hide the widget

    1) Check [Visible]. In the Preview mode, the widget is visible.

    2) Uncheck [Visible]. In the Preview mode, the widget is not visible.

    4. Data dictionary

    1) In the Preview mode, the options of the widget are set with the data dictionary.  The types of the data dictionary include database table, data query, custom and formula.

    2) Click on […] after [Data Dictionary] to configure the settings.

    5. Data dictionary: Database table

    1) Settings of the data dictionary:

    • Type: Database table

    • Database: FRDemoEN

    • Database table: EMPLOYEE

    • Actual value and display value: SEX

     2) Preview. The options are regions.

    6. Data dictionary: Data query

    1) Settings of the data dictionary:

    • Type: Data query

    • Dataset: ds2

    • Actual value and display value: SEX

    2) Preview.

     7. Data dictionary: Custom

    1) Settings of the data dictionary:

    • Type:  Custom

    • Input the actual value and the display value by taking the steps shown in the figure below.

    2) Preview.

    8. Data dictionary: Formula

    1) Settings of the data dictionary:

    • Type: Formula

    • Click on the formula icon after [Actual Value] and input the following formula in the text box: ARRAY("Male","Female"). Do not edit the formula for the display value, so that the display value will be equal to the actual value.

    2) Preview.

    9. Widget value: String

    1) Widget value refers to the option selected by default in the Preview mode, which can be string, field or formula.

    2) The widget value is string by default. Type “Male” in the box.

    3) Preview. The option of Male is checked by default.

    10. Widget value: Field

    1) Select [Field] as the widget value.

    2) Select the dataset [ds1] and the field [SEX].

    3) Preview.

    11. Widget value: Formula

    1) Select [Formula] as the widget value. Click on the [=] and a Formula Definition window pops up. Input the following formula in the text box: value("ds1",1,1).

    2) Preview.

    12. Font size

    1) You are allowed to change the font size.

    2) The font size is 12 by default.

    13. Option layout: Adaptive

    1) Check [Adaptive] and the widget layout will be adaptive to its size.

    2) If the widget is too small, put your cursor onto any of its border line and the cursor will change into a double-sided arrow, then click and drag.

    14. Option layout: Number of column displayed

    1) If [Adaptive] is unchecked, [Number of column displayed] will appear below [Adaptive], which is 0 by default.

    2) By setting the number of column displayed to 1, the options will line up in a column in the Preview mode.

    15. Allow choose all

    1) If [Allow Choose All] is checked, an [Allow Choose All] box will appear in the Preview mode.

    2) If [Allow Choose All] is not checked, no [Allow Choose All] box will appear in the Preview mode.

    16. Return value: Array

    1) If the data to be filtered are numbers, you can set to return an array value.

    2) The parameter TEST1 used in database query is not enclosed in single quotes, for example, WHERE id IN (${TEST1}) in [1-array2]. ([1-array2] is set as the data dictionary of the widget for 1-ARRAY 2 without ' ', so the results of SQL execution will be displayed in the Preview mode.)

3)Incorrect demonstration: The parameter TEST2 used in database query is enclosed in single quotes, for example, WHERE id IN ('${TEST2}') in [1-array3]. ([1-array3] is set as the data dictionary of the widget for 1-ARRAY 2 with' ', so the results of SQL execution will be displayed in the Preview mode.)

    4) Click Preview and compare the query results. You can find it fails to execute SQL if adding single quotes.

    17. Return value: String

    1) If the data to be filtered are strings or numbers, you can set to return a string value. Enclose the parameter used in the IN statement executed for database query in single quotes.

    2) Manually input a comma as the delimiter.

    3) Preview.

    18. Allow returning a null

    1) If [Allow Null] is checked, it allows you to make a query without displaying any option.

    2) In the Preview mode, no option is checked and no error tip pops up after clicking on Query.

    19. Not allow returning a null

    1) If [Allow Null] is unchecked, select at least one option for query.

    2) In the Preview mode, no option is checked and an error tip pops up on the right side of the browser window after clicking on Query.

    20. Widget position

    1) Widget position refers to the coordinates of the widget in the parameter pane.

    2) Manually input the widget coordinates or directly drag the widget to any position at your option.

    21. Widget size

    1) To resize the widget, put your cursor onto a border line and the cursor will change into a streamlined arrow, then click and drag.

    2) Directly input the width and height of the widget.
