Report Designer Memory Settings

1) When installing FineReport designer, users may configure the memory settings improperly because they do not know how much memory is required to run the designer.

2) Problems that will occur due to improper memory settings: 

• Due to the memory is too small, the designer may run slowly or crash. In addition, when previewing the report, the speed to load the report data can be rather slow.

• Due to the memory is too large, your PC may run slowly.

3) It is recommended to set the memory as 2G. Please do not let the memory exceed a quarter of the total memory of your PC.

4) This article shows the methods to modify the memory settings to 2G for the designer.

1. Open file designer.vmoptions under %FR_HOME%\bin

Use notepad or other text editors to open the file.

2. Change  -Xmx512m to -Xmx2048m and save the file

3. Restart the designer to bring the settings to effect
