Overview
This document is applicable to users who have installed the FineVis Data Visualization plugin to learn plugin functions.

Application Scenario
During report creation, you often need to generate multiple reports based on the same template. Since each report displays unique data, you often need to re-create templates for different reports.
The FineVis Data Visualization plugin of V3.1.0 allows you to replace datasets quickly. For example, a company can quickly create the corresponding sales report for each region based on the same template by easily replacing the current dataset with datasets for different regions, such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. You can also switch between datasets for different years within the same template to quickly generate financial comparison reports across multiple years.
The dataset replacement function can avoid repeated template designing and reduce maintenance costs. Besides, you can quickly switch data as needed for various business scenarios, enabling more efficient report development and data analysis processes.
Notes
You can replace datasets in FVS visualization dashboards and general reports.
You can replace template datasets and server datasets.
You can select one or more datasets for the replacement.
Function Description
Function Entry
You can select a dataset to be replaced, right-click the mouse, and select Replace Dataset. Alternatively, you can click the Replace Dataset icon on the toolbar for dataset replacement, as shown in the following figure.

Dataset Replacement
Click Replace Dataset and wait until a pop-up box appears, as shown in the following figure.

The following table explains the dataset replacement in detail.
| Function | Description |
|---|---|
Original dataset | You can select the dataset to be replaced. You can preview the dataset by clicking the Preview icon that appears on the right when you hover the cursor over the dataset row. Note: |
Target dataset |
|
Field matching | You need to select a target dataset before field matching. If the field name and type in the original dataset are consistent with those in the target dataset, the corresponding fields will be automatically matched.
If they are inconsistent, the target field will be empty and must be selected manually.

Replacement Effect
1. After the replacement, the components on the canvas will be updated in real-time, while the original dataset remains in the dataset list.
2. Application range:
The replacement takes effect for the components and dataset formulas that use the original dataset in the template. The following table shows the specific application range.
| Template | Application Range |
