    Functions

    The File tag in the FineReport designer toolbar includes general operations and settings of templates, as shown in the following figure. This document introduces general operations like opening templates and creating reports.

    New Reports

    FineReport allows you to create general reports, FVS reports, dashboards, and aggregation reports.

    New General Report

    Choose File > New General Report to create a general report, which contains multiple sheets (either general reports or aggregation reports).

    New FVS Dashboard

    Choose File > New FVS Report to create a FVS report. You can choose either Create Big Screen From Blank Area or Create Big Screen From Template.

    1. Create Big Screen From Blank Area

    You can set the name and canvas size (either Common Size or Custom Size) of the big screen template, as shown in the following figure.

    • Common Size: includes HD Screen (1280*720px), VHD Screen (1920*1080px), 2K Screen (2560*1440px), and Wide Screen (4864*1294px).

    • Custom Size: allows you to enter the width and height (from 300px to 50000px) of the canvas, with the basic unit px.

    2. Create Big Screen From Template

    In the FVS Dashboard Edit Mode plugin V1.12.0 and later versions, you can create FVS reports from either My Resource or Online Resource under Create Big Screen From Template.

    New Dashboard

    1. Choose File > Add Other Template > New Dashboard to create a new dashboard. The new template page pops up, as shown in the following figure.

    2. You can choose Simplified or Real as needed, as shown in the following figure.

    3. You can choose 2-4 Components, 5-7 Components, or Multi-Components as needed.

     

     

     

    New Aggregation Report

    Choose File > Add Other Template > New Aggregation Report to create an aggregation report, which contains multiple sheets.

    Opening Files

    Open templates and go to the template designing page by directly clicking template directories, or by choosing File > Open/Opened Recently.

    To reduce the designer lag, the system goes to the loading status when you open templates and limits some functions in the designer if the loading time is too long.

    If it fails to open, a prompt pops up, indicating a loading failure.

    Open

    Choose File > Open. The following page pops up.

    You can open the following three kinds of templates:

    1. Templates under the report work directory (where the designer's current login environment is located)

    2. Templates in other directories (such as C/D/E/F disk)

    3. Templates generated from imported Excel files

    When importing Excel tables, you need to change file types to Excel source file types (supporting Excel 2003 and Excel 2007), as shown in the following figure.

    If the designer is connected remotely, you cannot import Excel tables when choosing File > Open.


    Opened Recently

    Choose File > Opened Recently to view quickly open recently opened templates.

    Close

    Choose File > Close to close the template under the current window.

    Saving

    You can save templates by clicking the save icon, or by choosing File > Save/Save As.

    To reduce the designer lag, the system goes to the loading status when you save templates and limits some functions in the designer if the loading time is too long.

    If it fails to save, a prompt pops up, indicating a saving failure.

    Save

    After a template is created, choose File > Save. If it is saved for the first time, the save directory page pops up.

    Select the desired directory, customize the file name, and click Save. If it has been saved before, you can directly click the save icon.

    You can also directly save a template by pressing Ctrl and S keys together.


    Save As

    Choose File > Save As, select the desired directory to save as in the pop-up page, customize the file name, and click Save.

    Exporting

    Choose File > Export to export the currently editing template in different formats (Excel, PDF, Word, SVG, CSV(Comma Delimited), Text File(Tab Delimited), and Template(Built-in Data)).

    Select a format like PDF. If the template has parameters, a parameter input box pops up first.

    Enter the parameter value, click OK, and select the save path. A prompt pops up: Exported Successfully.

    Exporting Excel Files

    Excel under File > Export includes Full Page Export, Unaltered Export, and Page to Sheet Export.

    Exporting Templates (Built-in Data)

    Built-in data templates can directly store data in templates, making it convenient to browse data without reattaching databases when you modify templates.
