I. Get Activation Code and Download Product编辑

1. Get the activation code

Visit the FineReport official website (https://www.finereport.com/en/) and click Product->Download.

or Product > Activation from the navigation bar.

3. View activation code and download product

1) After submitting the information collection form, you will be redirected to a page with activation code; in the meantime, the browser will automatically download the installation package that matches the operation system of your PC.

2) Take Windows as an example, you will get an executable file after the download, and this is the installation package of FineReport designer.

3) If the automatic download process fails, you can click the button in the page to download again.

Note:

  • It is recommended to keep the page open until you successfully activate the product.

  • If you want to return to this page, just click Product > Download or Product > Activation.

II. Install FineReport编辑

1. Open the installation package

Double-click the FineReport installation package or right-click it and select [Open as administrator] to enter the installation wizard.

2. Click [Next]

3. Select [I accept the agreement] and click [Next]

4. Set the installation directory

1) Click Browse and select D drive, which means the FineReport project will be installed in D drive.

2) Name the project as FineReport_10.0.

3) Click Next.

5. Set the maximum memory

 1) The maximum memory means the maximum memory your PC will assign to FineReport, which is by default 2048M (i.e. 2G). If the PC itself has a larger memory, then more maximum memory can be assigned.

6. Create a folder in the Start menu

Check Create a Start Menu folder and click Next.

7. Create shortcuts

Check Create Quick Start Icon and Add Desktop Shortcuts, and then click Next.

8. Select file associations

1) It is recommended to check both. Both *.cpt and *.frm are FineReport-specific file formats. After file associations are set, if you double-click the *.cpt or *.frm file, FineReport will automatically start to open the file.

2) Click Next.

9. Start installation

The progress bar indicates installation progress, please wait patiently.

10. Complete installation

 1) It is recommended to uncheck run demo.

2) Click Finish.

III. Activate the Product编辑

1. Activate in FineReport designer

1) After the installation, double-click the icon to open FineReport designer.

2) The first time you open the designer, a window will pop up and this is where you should input the activation code.

3) Copy the activation code in the page.

4) Paste the activation code to the window and click Use Designer. Now you have successfully activate FineReport.

Note: You can click Get Activation Code to go back to the page with your activation code.

VI. FineReport installation directory编辑

1. Enter FineReport installation directory

 1) In this article, the installation directory is D:\FineReport_10.0, where you will see a series of project files.

2) Each file/folder stores the following content.

Images used in the designer, e.g., icons of some tools.

bin

Executable files, such as initiators of the designer and the decision-making platform.

designerbackup

Historical JAR packages. Older versions of JAR will be automatically backed up when the designer is manually updated, so that users can restore an old version in the future.

The folder will not be generated immediately after installation.

iisFilter

Files used to integrate IIS.

jre

The environment required for Java to run.

lib

JAR packages required for the designer to run.

logs

System logs.

plugins

Plugins used in the remote design mode.

server

Configuration files of the built-in Web server, which is used to preview reports.

webapps

Web applications.

uninstall.exe

FineReport uninstaller.

 

2. Open FineReport in the installation directory

1) Open the FineReport designer through the shortcut created at installation

2) If there is no shortcut created, open the folder bin and find the application named designer, double-click it to open the FineReport designer.

3. Enter the webroot directory

1) Enter %FR_HOME%\webapps\webroot, where you will see the following folders

Resources required for report design. WEB-INF is the working directory of the designer



4. Enter the WEB-INF directory

1) WEB-INF is the working directory of the designer in report development, which contains the following folders.

Compiled Java executables, which are used to generate program datasets.

Database of the decision-making platform’s configuration information (finedb).

reportlets

Report templates. When previewing reports locally, templates must be placed into this folder.

resources

Registration files and template encryption files.

schedule

Result reports generated after timed tasks are executed.
