Overview
You may often use year-on-year (YoY) and month-on-month (MoM) comparisons in data analysis.
FineBI supports quick calculation of YoY and MoM.
This document introduces several different methods of calculating YoY and MoM.
You can choose the appropriate method as needed.

Date Fields in the Chart
When you need to have a date field in your chart, you can use the Quick Calculation function to calculate YoY and MoM.
The final calculation result is shown in the following figure.
After calculation of the MoM and YoY growth rates, you may want to filter out the data for a specific period of time as it is inconvenient to view too much data.
For example, if you do not need some data from 2011 to 2017, you can only filter out the YoY and MoM data of 2017.
No Date Fields in the Chart
How to calculate YoY and MoM in the chart which needs no date field?
Custom YoY/MoM
Use custom YoY and MoM for quick calculation.
For example, in the absence of a date field, you can calculate the growth rate of contract amounts for any two date ranges of different contract types.
When it is very important to calculate the YoY and MoM results and highlight them (in addition to displaying them in tables), you can also use the indicator card component to display them.
Filtering and Displaying YoY/MoM
Use Date Filter Component to calculate the YoY and MoM of the calendar month.
To see the data in April 2016, you can filter the corresponding time in the filter component to see the sales amount in April and its YoY and MoM data.
Use Date Interval Filter Component to calculate the YoY and MoM of the specified time period.
Filter by Date Interval from 2013-03-01 to 2013-03-15, automatically filter the total contract amounts for the current time period in the grouped table, and calculate the YoY and MoM of this time period.
