Range area charts display the fluctuation of data within a certain period by filling the area between two lines (usually representing the minimum and maximum values of the data).
For example, you can use range area charts to display the highest and lowest temperature range from March to August in 2020, as shown in the following figure.

1. Advantage
Intuitiveness: Range area charts can intuitively display the fluctuation range and trend of the data through color filling.
Change emphasis: It can clearly display the maximum and minimum points of data within a certain period, emphasizing changes.
2. Disadvantage
Complexity: Range area charts with numerous data points or multiple data series can become complex and difficult to interpret.
Data volume limit: For situations with small data volume or data changes, range area charts may not be the best choice because it is more suitable for displaying data with relatively large fluctuations.
1. Log in to FineBI, click My Analysis, select a folder, and click New Subject, as shown in the following figure.
2. Choose Local Excel > Upload Data, as shown in the following figure.

3. Click OK after the data is uploaded, as shown in the following figure.
4. Click the # button next to Month in the header, and select Text to set the field format to Text, as shown in the following figure.
5. Click Formula Column in the function bar, set the formula column name as Temperature Difference in the pop-up settings box, enter the formula: Highest Temperature - Lowest Temperature, and click OK, as shown in the following figure.
6. Click Save and Update to complete the data creation, as shown in the following figure.
1. Click Component in the lower left corner.
2. Select Range Area Chart in Chart Type.
3. Drag Month from the left to-be-analyzed area to the horizontal axis of the analysis area, and drag Lowest Temperature and Temperature Difference to the vertical axis, as shown in the following figure.
4. Click Range Area Chart in Chart Type again to generate a range area chart, as shown in the following figure.
1. Drag Lowest Temperature from the left to-be-analyzed area into the Label bar under Graphic Property > Lowest Temperature. The chart will display the label of the field at the Lowest Temperature position, as shown in the following figure.
2. Drag Highest Temperature from the left to-be-analyzed area to the Label bar under Graphic Property > Temperature Difference. The chart will display the label of the field at the Temperature Difference position, as shown in the following figure.
1. Click the Add Dashboard button at the bottom of the editing page of the analysis subject.
2. Drag the component into the dashboard on the dashboard editing page, as shown in the following figure.
3. Select Edit Title from the drop-down list, set Font Style to Custom, enter the title as Range Area Chart, and click OK, as shown in the following figure.
