The Special Display function can be used to highlight certain chart parts to showcase key points. For example, it can be used to highlight the year with the highest contract amount in a column chart, as shown in the following figure.
There are three options for special display.
Comment: It is applied to all types of charts.
Flashing Animation: Dashboards, thermal charts, and heat maps do not support flashing animation settings.
Image Fill: It is only applied to column charts.
You can set the special display effect for indicator fields in Graphic Property and in the horizontal and vertical axes, as shown in the following figure.
Comment is applied to all types of charts. You can use it to annotate specific points.
Procedure
You can proceed as follows to annotate the year with the largest contract amount.
Choose Special Display > Comment in the drop-down list of Contract Amount, as shown in the following figure.
Enter the comment setting interface, add a Largest N condition for the Contract Amount field, set N to 1, and add the comment text, as shown in the following figure.
Effect Display
You can create a flashing effect for charts using Flashing Animation, which is most commonly applied to column charts, line charts, scatter plots, and maps.
Choose Special Display > Flashing Animation in the drop-down list of the Contract Amount field, add and customize the condition, and set the time interval, as shown in the following figure.
If no condition is added, the flashing setting will take effect for the entire indicator (e.g., all columns that represent Contract Amount in a column chart).
Column Chart
The flashing animation for the year with the largest contract amount is shown in the following figure.
Line Chart
The flashing animation for the entire contract amount is shown in the following figure.
Image Fill is only applied to column charts.
Similarly, choose Special Display > Image Fill in the drop-down list of the Contract Amount field, add the condition, and upload the image as shown in the following figure.
There are three filling methods, namely, Stacking, Adaptation, and Center.
Stacking: Keep the aspect ratio of the uploaded image unchanged, and stack multiple images according to the width of the column.
Adaptation: Scale the image to fit the column height, and only one image is used to fill the column.
Center: Keep the original aspect ratio unchanged, and display the image in the middle of the column.
