Row-to-column conversion of row-to-column conversion describes how to perform row-to-column conversion of the base dataset table, this article describes how to perform row-to-column conversion in the self-service dataset.
After performing the row-to-column conversion, calculations can be performed directly on the data.
Use the new columns to add three new columns for "Language score", "Math score", and "English score" respectively, with no score displayed as 0.
Use the Group Summary function to summarize language, math, and English scores by grouping names with the same value.
Example data: student scores.xls
Upload sample data to FineBI.
Create the Self-Service dataset and select all the fields under the "Student Achievement" data table, as shown below.
Add a "New column" step, name it "English score", enter the formula: IF(Subject="English",scores,0), click "OK", as shown in the following figure.
Similarly, add new columns for "Math score" and "Language score" with the formulas IF(Subject="Math",scores,0) IF(Subject="Language",scores,0), as shown below.
To add the "Group Summary" step, drag "Name" into the group column, and "Math score", "English score", and "Language score" into the summary column, as shown in the figure below.
Just name and save the Self-Service dataset.
See Section 1.1 of this document for details.
If you also need to perform summary calculations or average calculations on students' grades, you can create a dashboard directly to calculate the total score, as shown in the following figure.
The effect is shown in the following figure.
