Application Scenarios
This article introduces how to assign permissions to users so that they can view the platform directory in the FineBI system.
Procedures
Example
This article introduces how to assign the View permission of Sales to Sales department, so that sales department employees can view the Sales directory.
Setting User Types
In the Platform User interface, if there is No limit on user number of PC User and its subcategories, then there is no need to perform the operation introduced in this section.
In the Platform User interface, if the number of users in PC User and in its subcategories is limited, you need to follow the procedures in this section, otherwise you cannot view the dashboard.
The admin logs into FineBI, clicks Manage > User > Platform User, and adds the sales department employees to BI User (BI View User or BI design user).
Note:
If a user is not a BI user (view user or design user), even if the admin assigns the viewing permission of the corresponding directory to the user, the user will see the corresponding directory on the left after logging into FineBI, but when clicking to view a specific dashboard, it will prompt: Sorry, you cannot view this page. No permission, please check the platform usage user settings.
Assigning Viewing Permission of Directory
The admin logs into FineBI, goes to Manage > Permission > General permission configuration, and selects the permission carrier Dept., Role or users from User List.
This example selects Sales department.
Select the Directory tab and assign Sales department the permission to view the Sales directory.
Note: If the admin does not assign the View permission of Directory to the relevant user, the user will see a blank page when opening the mobile end.
Assigning Component Data Permission
A dashboard is composed of various components, which need to use some data.
If the component data used by the dashboard comes from Public Data, then the admin needs to assign users the permission to view the component data.
There are two methods to assign the Component Data permission.
1. Assigning the Component Data permission of the dataset under Data Authorization: If component B in dashboard A uses dataset C in Public Data, to view dashboard A, users can be assigned component data permissions of dataset C.
2. Assigning the Component Data permission of the dashboard under Directory: If component B in dashboard A uses dataset C in Public Data, to view dashboard A, users can be assigned component data permissions of component B.
Method One: Assigning the Component Data permission of the dataset under Data Authorization
The dashboard in Sales uses data in the Sales folder in Public Data. Therefore, it is necessary to assign corresponding component data permissions to the sales department employees to access this folder.
The admin logs into FineBI, goes to Manage > Permission > General permission configuration, and selects the permission carrier Dept., Role or users from User List.
This example selects Sales department.
Select the Data Authorization tab and assign Sales department the permission to view the Sales folder.
Method Two: Assigning the Component Data permission of the dashboard under Directory
The admin logs into FineBI, goes to Manage > Permission > General permission configuration, and selects the permission carrier Dept., Role or users from User List.
This example selects Sales department.
In the Directory interface, click the Sales node, click beside a specific dashboard.
Tick the component data that Alice will be allowed to view.
Note: If you do not assign the Component Data permission and then view the dashboard, an error message will prompt: Preview Failed. You are currently not authorized to view the component data. An error has occurred, please contact the administrator.
Demonstration
Sales department employee Alice logs into FineBI and can view the directory in Sales and dashboards in it.
