    Application Scenario

With a filter, you can perform the following operations:

    1. Check and modify the filtering conditions set within the component. The filtering performed within the component will appear in the filter, making it convenient for you to verify and modify the filtering within the component.

    2. Perform a detail filter on the calculation value based on the def function. After calculating the result using the def function, you can perform a detail filter according to the def value.

    3. Perform a detail filter within the component. Data that is not involved in the calculation in the current component can be filtered out with a filter. For example, you can only filter data with contract time in 2021 for subsequent component calculations, as shown in the following figure.

    Function Description

Filtering operations have order. In the introductory stage, you can divide the filtering operations within the component into the following two parts:

    1. Detail filter before the calculation: You can perform a detail filter on the used data table, and the filtered-out data will no longer be included in all calculations of the component.

    2. Result filter after the calculation: After you complete the analysis and calculation in the component, you can filter the results. The result filter will not affect the already calculated values.

    Procedure

Background: There is an ENdemo_Office_Supplies_Data data and the order with profit less than 0 is considered as a promotional order. You need to analyze sales of non-promotional orders in 2021.

Go to Public Data, search ENdemo_Office_Supplies_Data in the search box, and click Create Analysis Subject and OK.

    Data Preparation

Create an analysis subject by referring to section "Procedure."

    Detail Filter

In this case, only the order data in 2021 with profit greater than 0 needs to be included in the subsequent calculation, and you can filter the order data.

    1. Filter the order data in 2021. Drag Contract Time into Filter and set Year to Field Grouping Method, as shown in the following figure.

You can perform a detail filter on the Dimension field and drag the Dimension field into Filter.

    2. Filter the order data with profit greater than 0. Drag the profit indicator into Filter and select Detailed Value.

You can perform a detail filter on the Indicator field. After dragging the Indicator field into Filter, select Detailed Value.

    Component Calculation

Drag the City and sales fields into the filter component, as shown in the following figure.

As you performed a detail filter in section "Detail Filter", what are calculated are the sales of non-promotional orders in each city in 2021.

Sales in each city have been calculated, but you only need to focus on the sales of the top 5 cities. For convenience of viewing, you can filter the aggregated results, and filtering the results will not affect the already obtained result values.

    Result Filter

Example 1: Filtering Top Five Cities by Sales

There are two entry methods for filtering the results of fields that have been dragged into the analysis area.

Method 1: Directly filter the sum of sales results in the analysis area, and the filtering operation will be recorded in the filter.

Method 2: Drag the sales field into the filter, set the aggregation method to Sum, and the sales will be aggregated and summed by the dimension City dragged in. Filter the top 5 cities with the highest sales, as shown in the following figure.

You can filter the results. Drag the Indicator field into Filter, select the aggregation method, and the indicator will be grouped and aggregated according to the dimensions already dragged into the analysis area.

Example 2: Filtering Top Five Cities by Order Quantities and Viewing the Sales

    1. Drag Count into Filter and set Order Number to Count Dependence. That is, perform the grouping by the dimension City dragged into the analysis area, deduplicate and count the order number, and calculate the order quantities for each city. Then you can filter the top five cities by order quantities, as shown in the following figure.

    Filtering Condition Description

The following table shows the supported filtering conditions corresponding to different field types after you click Add Condition.

    Field Type
    Supported Filtering Condition

    Text type

In, Not In, Contain, Not Contain, Null, Not Null, Begin With, End With, Not Begin With, Not End With, Top N, and Last N.

    Date type

Extracted data: In, Not In, By, Since, Contain, Not Contain, Null, Not Null, Begin With, End With, Not Begin With, Not End With, Top N, and Last N.

Direct-connected data: If data formats are Year, Quarter, Month, Week, Day, Hour, Minute, and Second, the supported conditions are the same as those of extracted data. If data formats are not the above-mentioned ones, you can set conditions including In, Not In, Null, Not Null, Top N, and Last N.

    Value type

Between, Not Between, Equal to, Not Equal to, More than, Less than, More than/Equal to, Less than/Equal to, Null, Not Null, Largest N, and Smallest N.

    iconNote:
    1. Logic of Top N in text fields: Texts in text fields are sorted based on ASCII codes, and the top N texts are extracted.
    2. Logic of Top N in date fields: Dates are sorted in chronological order, and the latest N dates are extracted.
    3. All juxtaposed data with the same values is retained and displayed if you use the filter conditions Largest N and Smallest N.

    Summary

After studying this document, you can understand the usage of the detail filter and result filter.
