This document introduces the following common issues that you may encounter in the association process.
The Add Association button is displayed in gray.
An error message occurs, indicating duplicate associated fields.
You are not allowed to establish an association between two direct-connected tables from different databases.
When you hover the mouse over the Add Association button, a prompt "No permission to add association" appears.
You cannot add associations to the dataset if you do not have the management permission.
To solve the problem, the admin needs to reassign the data table management permissions to the user. For details, see Public Data Management Permission.
An error message occurs after you add an association, as shown in the following figure.
The Contract Table is the 1-side table in a 1:N association. The 1-side table is the main table, and it does not allow duplicate values to exist in the associated field Company ID.
This section introduces how to check if there are duplicate values in the associated field of the 1-side table.
Create a group table with the 1-side table, and drag the associated field Company ID into Dimension, and the field Count into Indicator. Then sort the field Count in descending order. If the maximum count is greater than 1, it indicates that the associated field Company ID has duplicate values. In this case, you need to modify the 1-side table.
An error message "[DIRECT-ETL] unsupported data source: databases on different hosts/ports" is displayed in the self-service dataset or component.
In the direct-connected data mode, two tables from different databases cannot be associated.
Some databases cannot be associated with Excel datasets. For details, see Direct Connect Databases Supporting Integrated Analysis with Excel.
The direct-connected mode does not support cross-database association. You can switch to the extracted data mode for association.
