FineBI Project Migration

In the actual use of FineBI, users sometimes need to migrate a BI project in use to another BI project.

This article introduces the operation steps of project migration in detail.

1. Confirm the version

Before migrating the project, make sure that the FineBI versions deployed on the two servers are the same.

Go to "Manage > Registration > Version Information > BI " to view, as shown in the following figure:

If the versions are inconsistent, refer to the FineBI upgrade guide to upgrade or reinstall the new version.

2. Global Migration

1) Configure the project of the external database for backup

•  If the old project is configured with an external database before the migration , you need to go to "Manage >Intelligent Operation and Maintenance > Backup and Restore", and click "Manual Backup" under the "Platform Configuration, Report Template, BI Template, JAR Package, Plug-in" tab, backup related information, please refer to: Backup and Restore for details .

• Check if FineBI is running, make sure to back up when FineBI is closed, back up the webroot folder, and copy the project under the webroot path %FineBI%\webapps\webroot .

2) Configure the project of the built-in database for backup

If the old project has not been configured with an external database before the migration, you need to back up the webroot folder, check whether FineBI is running, ensure that the backup is performed when FineBI is closed, and copy the project under the webroot path %FineBI%\webapps\webroot .

Note: Backups are stored in compressed folders, or copy the backup files to a non-project directory to ensure that there is only one project named webroot in the web container.

3) Replacement project

Check if FineBI is running, make sure to migrate with FineBI closed.

the webroot folder under the old project directory %FineBI%/webapps before migration to the new project after migration and replace it.

4) Copy the finedb file

Note: This step is not required if using the built-in database.

• the "db.properties" file under the new project %FineBI%/webapps/webroot/WEB-INF/config to be migrated to.

• Find the backup config.zip file in the old project %FineBI%/webapps/webroot/backup/config/manual folder before migration.

Unzip the "config" file, and copy the unzipped backup file to the new system %FineBI%/webapps/webroot/WEB-INF/embed

5) Restart the server

Restart the new server, and it can be used normally in the new project after the startup is complete.

3. Incremental Migration

If you just made some new dashboards in the old system and want to put them in the new system, you can use the resource migration function of FineBI.
