1.Overview
Self-service dataset refers to tables obtained by users after conducting self-service analysis through various functions. In other words, self-service datasets are tables processed by users themselves. Users explore and analyze the exsiting data for sbusequent business analysis.
Save processed tables in the business package as the foundation for fowllow-up data visualization.
2.Self-service dataset work flow
A flowchart below shows the process of data processing making use of self-service dataset.
Users can also watch the video to understand the process of using self-service dataset: understand self-service dataset in one minute.

For details, you can refer to the table below. After studying the following table, you can have a general grasp of using self-service dataset for analysis.
Function
| Contents to realize |
---|
Add self-service dataset | Use an example to show how to create self-service dataset and conduct self-service analysis. |
Select field | Select the fields required by the self-service dataset. Fields from different tables can be included in one self-service dataset (provided that the associations are established between these tables). |
Filter | Filter the existing data. |
Grouping and summarizing | First group the data, and then perform summary calculations on grouped data. |
New column | Through calculating the existing data columns without affecting the original data, a new data column is obtained and saved in the business package for subsequent business analysis, such as "data format conversion, time difference, group assignment, get time, ranking within the group", etc. |
Hidden field | Uncheck a field in the "field settings" to not display the field in the table. |
Rename the field | The display name of the field can be modified in the "field setting". |
Modify the field type | In the "field settings", you can change the data type of the field. For example, you can change the type from numeric into textual. |
Sorting | Resort the fields. |
Left and right merge | Set the two tables "left and right merge" to form a new table for use. |
Up and down merge | Set the two tables "up and down merge" to form a new table for use. |
3.The property of self-service dataset
There are two types of self-service dataset in FineBI:
The difference between the two types of self-service datasets can be found in: Determine the property of self-service dataset.
