Self-service dataset overview

    • 1.Overview

    Self-service dataset refers to tables obtained by users after conducting self-service analysis through various functions. In other words, self-service datasets are tables processed by users themselves. Users  explore and analyze the exsiting data for sbusequent business analysis.

    Save processed tables in the business package as the foundation for fowllow-up data visualization.

    2.Self-service dataset work flow

    A flowchart below shows the process of data processing making use of self-service dataset.

    Add self-service datasetUse an example to show how to create self-service dataset and conduct self-service analysis.
    Select fieldSelect the fields required by the self-service dataset. Fields from different tables can be included in one self-service dataset (provided that the associations are established between these tables).
    FilterFilter the existing data.
    Grouping and summarizingFirst group the data, and then perform summary calculations on  grouped data.
    New columnThrough calculating the existing data columns without affecting the original data, a new data column is obtained and saved in the business package for subsequent business analysis, such as "data format conversion, time difference, group assignment, get time, ranking within the group", etc.
    Hidden fieldUncheck a field in the "field settings" to not display the field in the table.
    Rename the fieldThe display name of the field can be modified in the "field setting".
    Modify the field typeIn the "field settings", you can change the data type of the field. For example, you can change the type from numeric into textual.
    SortingResort the fields.
    Left and right mergeSet the two tables "left and right merge" to form a new table for use.
    Up and down mergeSet the two tables "up and down merge" to form a new table for use.


    3.The property of self-service dataset

    There are two types of self-service dataset in FineBI:

    • Self-service dataset  of processing property

    • Self-service dataset of analyzing property
