    This upgrade tool can only upgrade to version 6.0.5. You can contact technical support for assistance in upgrading to at least version 6.0.7 before using.

    Q: How to upgrade from version 5 to version 6?

    A: You need to use the upgrade tool. The process usually takes about 2 hours, generally no more than 5 hours.

    A: Yes, the upgrade tool supports FRBI integrated engineering, and FR will be upgraded to FR11.

    Preparations for Upgrade

    1. Reading the Compatibility Instruction

    For details, see 6.0 Compatibility Instruction.

    2. Business Issues

    Before the upgrade, you need to negotiate business issues with the corresponding sales.

    If the environment uses an official lic, that is, an authorization with a registration period of 100 years, you need to disable it before the upgrade. (Note: Annual membership clients do not need to disable it.)

    The Complete Process of Disabling Lic

    Step 1: Authorization migration

    a. Confirm whether the server is officially authorized. Log in as an admins to FanRuan Decision-Making Platform, click Manage > Registration > Version Information to confirm the expiration time. If it expires in 100 years, the server is officially authorized. Take a screenshot and send it to the upgrade group to confirm.

    b. Find out the FanRuan. lic file in the installation directory of the BI Server (for example: tomcat\webapps\webroot\WEB- INF\resources), and send the file to the upgrade group.

    c. Contact the corresponding personnel for upgrade, and obtain the authorization migration plugin. The plugin will automatically disable the authorization for the past BI project, and generate a registration lic for the new BI project. For details, see Authorization Migration Plugin.

    d. After disabling it, refresh the page and click Manage > Registration > Version Information again to revisit the registration information. Confirm the registration status, and send a screenshot to the upgrade group.

    Step 2: Official authorization to apply operation after upgrading

    Upon successful upgrade, you will obtain a temporary authorization first. According to the upgrade team's requirements, you can obtain the license by sending an email to the business team.

    Use the email address specified in the contract to send the registration information to FineBI business team(business@fanruan.com). The email format is as follows:

    The aforementioned exported rif files

    Do not open generated RegistrationInformation.rif file. It will corrupt the files. If you send them to FanRuan business team, the registration will not be allowed.

    3. Risk Detection

    Detect risks through the risk detection plugin before the upgrade.

    Check the risks detected carefully and make modifications according to tips before upgrading.

    Upgrading

    1. Backup, upgrade, and restore instructions.

    2. Get the upgrade tool with the help of FanRuan staff. For details about the upgrade process, see 6.0 Upgrade. (Note: Quit BI project during the upgrade.)

    A report will be generated after the upgrade. The admins should check the report after the upgrade. For details, see Checking Upgrade Report after Upgrading.

    Upgrade Rollback

    If you need rollback after upgrading, you can operate according to the backup file before upgrading. FineBI will revert back to the status before upgrading. Anything created after upgrading can not be retained.
