There are two ways to install FineBI:
Description
Application Scenarios
Installation Methods
Local Installation
Personal use
Local installation is suitable for individual users who are on the trial period of FineBI, and usually the project is not shared with other employees.
Download the FineBI installation package according to your operating system, and follow the FineBI Installation and Startup to install FineBI.
Server Installation
Official enterprise project
Test enterprise project
For an enterprise with multiple users who need to use the same BI project, the enterprise can install BI on the server. When the admin starts BI, other employees can access BI by entering the IP address in the browser (for example, http://ip:{port number}/webroot/decision).
Deploying BI on the server allows BI to remain accessible for 24 hours, and users can access BI through the IP address at any time. In this case, enterprises can build a systematic platform to realize coordination of business activities. But if BI is closed, then other users will not be able to access BI by entering the IP address.
Use Web server for deployment. The Web servers supported by FineBI include Tomcat, WebLogic, JBoss (Wildfly), and WebSphere. You need to deploy the Web server before deploying FineBI because it's more secure and extendible to deploy on Web containers.
The installation packages provided on FineBI's official website include Windows, Mac, and Linux, all of which have integrated Tomcat and JDK1.8.
If you download directly from the official website, you do not need to deploy JDK separately.
Enter the installation path in your browser to be redirected to the BI login page. If you can enter the login interface, it means that your computer can communicate with the server.
After downloading FineBI, follow the next three steps to obtain an empty project without directory, dashboard, and built-in data:
1. Delete directory
The super admin logs in to the FineBI system, click Manage > Directory, and select Balk Delete from the directory list to delete all dashboards mounted to the directory.
2. Delete subjects
The super admin logs in to the FineBI system, click My Analysis/User Analysis, select the folder and delete it.
3. Delete Public Data
The super admin logs in to the FineBI system, click Public Data > All Data, tick a folder, and click Select All > Delete to delete the built-in public data.
Yes, you can change the installation directory during the installation process.
Reinstall the same version of FineBI in D Drive, then copy the webroot folder in /webapps/webroot in C Drive to the same directory in D drive to replace the original folder. After that, you need to upgrade the data.
After uploading Linux installation package to the server, you need to assign the execution permission to the package. Users can not continue the installation process until being given the execution permission. The memory of the installation directory should be large enough to store all data, because the data is stored under FineBI project path by default.
Wherever you get the FineBI installation package for Linux, either from the official website or deployed on the Web server, a graphical user interface is not a must. You can install FineBI in the command-line interface. It can generally work normally after successful installation. The graphical user interface is only needed for chart exporting.
You can use ps - ef | grep finebi to find the ongoing process on Linux. The process information description contains the FineBI installation path.
Problem description:
When you download the FineBI installation package for Mac from the official website, you may encounter the security message “FineBI.dmg” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.
Cause analysis:
FineBI is not available in the App Store.
Solution:
Open System Preferences, click Security & Privacy and tick App Store and identified developers.
If it says “FineBI.dmg”was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer, click Open Anyway.
After the setting is complete, you can try to open it again.
The deployment of FineBI on Mac stops at the license agreement step, accompanied by the overloading of the server.
Software conflicts disable smooth content reading. As server performance varies, for some the process may stop halfway, and for some the waiting time may be too long.
The following softwares all have the risk of conflicting with FineBI. It is recommended to close them in sequence and restart them after the successful installation of FineBI.
1. Grammarly Desktop, a grammar correction software
2. rectangle, a window management tool
3. magent, a screen split software
