You may often first use statistical charts in a dashboard to figure out business problems at a macro level, and then use a drilling linkage on a page to drill down to locate specific problems step by step. What is drilling? For example, an axis chart is used to display the number of clients in each province, and you can click data of a specific province to drill down to view the number of clients in each city of that province.
This document introduces two scenarios of drilling, the effects of which are shown in the following figure. For details about the procedures, see section "Data Drilling."
Fixed Drill Order
In this document, the drill order is Region > First class channel name > Secondary channel name > Three-level channel name.
As shown in the following figure, clicking Cambodia allows you to view the page views of each first class channel in Cambodia, and clicking New Media Marketing shows the page views of each secondary channel under New Media Marketing in Cambodia, and so on.
Unfixed Drill Order
If the drill order is not fixed, you can choose any field to drill. For example, clicking Cambodia allows you to skip the secondary channel and directly drill down to view the page views of the three-level channel in Cambodia.
Data drilling usually refers to drill-down, which means further refining certain specific grouping data according to the second dimension.
1. Use the built-in data Internet Channel Statistics to create an analysis subject and select the location.
2. Click the icon of the Region field and select Create Drill Directory from the drop-down list.
3. The default name of the directory is Region. Click OK.
1. Click the icon of the First class channel name field and choose Add to Drill Directory > Region.
2. Use the same method to add the Secondary channel name and Three-level channel name fields to the directory. The final drill directory is shown in the following figure.
3. The current drill order is Region > First class channel name > Secondary channel name > Three-level channel name. You can adjust the drill order by dragging the fields, as shown in the following figure.
Drag the drill directory Region and the indicator field pageviews into the analysis area, click the Custom Chart icon in Chart Type, and select Column Chart.
Click the icon of Region, and you can set Drill Order to Fixed or Unfixed. The default order is Fixed.
Fixed: The fields are drilled in the order specified in the drill directory. The setting effect is shown in section "Fixed Drill Order."
Unfixed: You can customize the drilling fields. The setting effect is shown in section "Unfixed Drill Order."
Click the icon to switch dimension fields, and then you can set the switched dimension fields.
For example, you can sort Region, First class channel name, Secondary channel name, and Three-level channel name by pageviews in descending order.
For details, see section "Application Scenario."
You can click Preview to view the dashboard.
