Overview
After you add data to an analysis subject, you can analyze and visually display the data.
Data successfully uploaded and processed by referring to Data Editing and Updating can be directly used for visual analysis.
This document introduces how to create tables and analyze data in components.
Common Scenario
This section introduces some functional scenarios related to the following example.
Component Description
In FineBI, you can create charts and tables in components for visual display.
You can create charts or tables by dragging data fields into the analysis area and selecting types of charts/tables to be generated.
The following figure shows the functions of each area on the component editing page.
Table Description
FineBI provides three types of tables: Group Table, Detail Table, and Cross Table.
Among the tables, the group table is the most practical one. It groups the table data by the same item for display, enabling multidimensional analysis.
For details about more tables, see Table Type Description.
Data Analysis
You can further process and adjust data by required dimensions and indicators for better display.
Generally, the data is adjusted by clicking the icon next to the corresponding field in the analysis area and selecting setting items from the drop-down list.
Data can be processed simply through the Dimension bar, such as sorting, filtering, and field grouping.
Data can be calculated through the Indicator bar, such as quick calculation and data bar setting.
For details about data processing and analyzing, see Field Settings in the Analysis Area.
Application Example
The previous two documents describes how to create analysis subjects and process table data.
This document introduces how to use a table in a component to analyze data more deeply.
Group Table Creation
Firstly, you can create a detail table to display the sales of various products.
You can click the component button to go to the table creation page. The data source is the Excel table Sales Information.
You can create a group table as follows: 1. Drag the fields Product Name and Sales separately into the analysis area. 2. Set Chart Type to Group Table to obtain the sales of various products.
Data Adjustment
In this example, you need to help the manager identify the top ten best-selling products for procurement strategy adjustment.
Based on the group table created in section "Group Table Creation", you can further calculate the data to obtain the top ten products by sales.
1. Click the icon next to the column header Product Name and select Filter from the drop-down list. Click the
icon, select Largest N from the drop-down list, and set N to 10 to filter the top ten products by sales.
2. Click the icon next to the column header Sales and select Descend from the drop-down list to display the data by sales in descending order.
3. Click the component tab at the bottom to modify the name to Top Ten Products by Sales, as shown in the following figure.
Technique and Beautification
This section introduces some techniques for group table creation.
Result Viewing from Different Dimensions
You can switch different dimensions to view results.
After obtaining the data, you may want to summarize and analyze a certain indicator by switching different dimensions to achieve an analysis effect.
For example, if you want to view the total sales, you can drag only the field Sales into Indicator, and if you continue to drag the fields Date, City, and Store Name into Dimension, you can view the sales in different dates, cities, and stores. The following figure shows the procedure.
Data Expanding and Collapsing
The data within the same group is automatically collapsed in the group table. If you want to display data more specifically when multiple fields exist in Dimension, you can expand the data using either of the following ways: 1. Click the addition icon next to the dimension field in the preview area. 2. Select Display Row Header Node under Component Style > Format.
Summary Mode Adjustment
Summary Mode is set to Sum by default. Besides, FineBI provides multiple modes of summary by group, such as Average and Maximum/Minimum.
You can click the icon next to a field on the Indicator bar and select a setting item from the drop-down list. You can select different modes from Summary Mode.
The following figure shows the effect of performing Sum, Maximum, and Average on the sales of all the products in the field Product Type.
Numerical Unit Modification
Two group tables are created in this document. The two tables are separately analyzed to obtain the top ten products by sales as well as the sales of different product types and their proportions.
However, the numerical unit is too small, which is inconvenient for you to view data. You can set Numerical Unit to Thousand for a more intuitive presentation.
Subsequent Operation
After learning this document, you have grasped the skills of data analysis in components, data display in tables, and data beautification. Next, you can go to Data Visualization (Ⅱ) for further learning.
