Converting Field Types

Expected Effect

Sometimes you need to convert the text field to the value field. For example, you need to convert the Purchase Quantity text field to a value field. The following figure shows the effect after conversion.

Implementation Method

Click Formula Column to modify the field type.

Creating an Analysis Subject

1. Download the sample data, create an analysis subject, and add the dataset Contract Information, as shown in the following figure.

2. Click Field Settings and select the Contract Type and Purchased Product text fields from the corresponding dataset, as shown in the following figure.

Adding a Column

Click Formula Column, name the field Purchased Product - Value, select the Purchase Product field under Text Field, click Field Type on the right, select Value, and click OK, as shown in the following figure.

Note:

 Functions and fields in the formula need to be selected from the left selection area and cannot be entered manually.
