Overview
Application Scenario
You can use a point map to generate data as geometric points within the range of a geographic coordinate system, primarily for displaying spatial distribution within a geographic area.
Basic Requirement
The following table shows the basic requirements for a point map.
Chart Effect | Field |
---|---|
Map point | Two geographical dimension fields (one for longitude and the other for latitude) |
Chart Feature
A point map is suitable for displaying the distribution of one or multiple sets of data in geographic space.
Example
Data Preparation
1. Log in to the system as the admin, click My Analysis, select a folder, and click New Subject, as shown in the following figure.
2. Click Local Excel and click Upload Data, as shown in the following figure.
You can download the sample data Regional Data Analysis.xlsx.
3. Click OK after the data is uploaded, as shown in the following figure.
Component Creation
1. Click Component in the lower left corner, as shown in the following figure.
2. Convert the field Province in the area to be analyzed into a geographic role, as shown in the following figure. For details, see Converting Dimension Fields into Geographic Roles.

1. If there are indicator fields with latitude and longitude, please refer to the document for specific operations: Converting Indicators to Geographic Roles.
2. If you want to match geographic roles for direct-administered/Taiwan (China), please refer to: Matching Geographic Roles (City) with Direct-administered municipalities/Taiwan.
3. Click Point Map and drag Province (Longitude) into Horizontal Axis, and Province (Latitude) into Vertical Axis.

Points in Different Shapes
You may want to use other shapes to display special points, such as the red triangle for the province with the highest sales volume in section "Example" in this document.
1. After making a point map according to section "Example" in this document, drag Sales into Shape, and set corresponding shapes to different data intervals.
2. Click Color, and set colors according to the data intervals.
