You can preview the table data in Data Preview.

Support Detail display and Table structure display.

Click a table, and you will go to its Data Preview tab by default. You can preview the table data in this tab.

Switching Between Detail Display and Table Structure Display

By default, the data table is in Detail display status. You can switch between Detail display and Table structure display like this:

In Table structure display, you can see the original field names in the table.

In order to establish a data dictionary and help other viewers understand the field meaning, you can add field descriptions in this interface.

After setting the field descriptions, you can see the descriptions when hovering the mouse pointer over the field name.

Renaming Fields

Note: You cannot modify the field names of self-service datasets in Data Preview.

You can modify field names in Data Preview.

Modifying Displayed Data Amount

Five thousand rows of data are displayed by default. You can click Edit to adjust the displayed data rows.

Note:

1. The row number only means the amount of displayed data in Data Preview, while during the calculation, all data will be counted in.

2. If the displayed data amount remains unchanged after the modification, it may be due to the limit set by the admin.

If the table data is extracted data, the data row number will be displayed down below the table in Data Preview.

If the table data is direct data, the total data row number will not be displayed unless the set row number for preview is larger than the total row number.

Field Grouping

You can use Field Group to classify fields in large number, which can facilitate convenient data searching during the data analysis.

Field Searching

If there are too many fields, you can search to find target fields quickly.

Data Detail

In Public Data, you can click Data detail to view the creators and the latest update times of public datasets.

You can contact the table creator for data confirmation.

Setting Amount of Data Access

If the admin sets the Amount of Data Access to 2000 in Manage > System > General, then regardless of the modification made in Data Preview, the displayed data row number will be no more than 2000.

Note:

1. The amount of data access should be set according to the memory. If the JVM parameter is 16G, the amount of data access can be modified to five million. The access cap is ten million, but the performance will be less satisfying under such circumstance. For details on JVM parameter modification, see Modifying FineBI Configuration Parameters.

2. You need to restart FineBI after modifying the amount of data access.
