    Application Scenarios

    Scenario One

    Converting the results of data analysis into a Word report is a common business requirement, but sometimes it is not appropriate to export the report directly to Word.

    Because formal reports actually have high requirements for both content and layout, such as descriptive statements for indicator analysis and specified fonts and paragraph formats.

    If you export the report directly to Word, the Word file only contains the content of the report, but its format and layout are default and not editable.

    Scenario Two

    The report involves a large number of data indicators. If you manually edit these numbers every time, it is troublesome and may easily cause errors.

    For example, in the air quality monitoring report shown in the figure, the circled items are data indicators that change every month. What should we do to make such a report automatically generated every month?

    Solutions in FineReport

    FineReport newly launched the Word report plugin, which integrates WPS with the designer.

    Resources of dataset in the designer including fields, parameters, formulas, charts, and tables, and the preparation and design work is completed in the designer.

    You can insert these resources into WPS, and then adjust their format and layout to export fixed-format Word documents.

    When previewing a Word report template, you can intuitively see the final effect of the report and export the Word report as the original design.

    Preparing the Environment

    Obtaining the Installation Package

    1. You can go to the FanRuan market to download the installation package: Word Report Plugin.

    2. If you have installed the plugin, you can contact technical support for help when there are any needs or issues. For detail about technical support channel, see Technical Support Channel Introduction.

    Installing the Plugin

    1. Obtain the installation package, and install it.

    For details about installing designer plugins, see Designer Plugin Management.

    For details about installing server plugins, see Server Plugin Management.

    2. After installation, log in to the decision-making platform, select Manage > Word Plugin Management, click One-click Installation, and the installation completes when the pop-up window prompts: Installation Successful.

    Super Admin Assigning Permissions

    1. Permission Control is added in V 2.0.6 and later versions of the plugin. After installing the plugin on the decision-making platform, the super admin needs to remotely connect to the server in the designer and assign Remote Connection and Remote Design Template permissions to relevant users or roles through Remote Design Permission Management.

    2. Users who need to design remotely have to install the plugin of the same version as that installed on the remote server to their local designer according to section "Installing the Plugin". After installation, New Word Report will appear under File in the designer. Switch the designer to remote connection to perform template design.

    Note: The user permissions in Word reports are the same as those in remote design permissions.
