Point Map

1) The point map is used with longitude and latitude data to indicate the metrics of certain locations with scattered points.

2) To view the data of a specific location, the point map can be a great choice to locate it accurately and swiftly. However, this type of map might be hard to distinguish when displaying excessive amounts of data.

1. Insert a Chart

1) Take the floating chart as an example. Click Insert -> Floating Element -> Map, and select Point Map. Adjust the size and position.

2) Double click the chart and enter Type setup on the right. Click to select the built-in Southeast Asia layer. Assign Blue to GIS Layer. Set Zoom Level and Center to Automatic.

2. Bind Data

1) Create a new template dataset, click on File dataset, set file type as Excel and select the .xlsx file which you can download below. Check the box of "First row contains column headings" and preview the data.

2) Click on Data. Select the created File1. Here we can use the field "Country" or "Longitude/Latitude" to match the data.

For settings of matching by name, please refer to 2. Bind Data in Area Map. Here we take the Lat/Long matching as an example. Set Area Name to Country,and Series Name to Enable Field Value. Assign Heat to both Series and Value, and select None for Summary Method.

3. Style Setup

Click Style on the right panel to switch to the style setting interface. Despite the various types of charts, most of the style options are universal. Please refer to Chart Style for details.

1) To set up the data point style, you can click on Series and do configurations for Point Style,  with the options including Default, Scatter, Bubble and Custom picture available.

• Default: use the default waterdrop-style marker, incapable of indicating data values.

• Scatter: indicate the data value by colors, with marker types and radius sizes adjustable.

• Bubble: use bubbles to convey the idea of the data value in color and size. Settings for Min and Max Diameter, Shadow and Negative Values Display are supported. Here we set the point style to Bubble and use its default settings.

• Custom Picture: use a custom image as the marker.

2) Click on Label, select Use Label and check on Area Name and Value.

Save and preview the result as shown below.
