Overview
When tables from any data source are accessed in FineBI, the data types of the accessed data are automatically identified in FineBI. In some cases, the data type may not be correctly identified. If incorrect data types occur, data analysis will be affected. In this case, you can adjust data types through base table processing.
Additionally, you can also convert the raw data from a one-dimensional table to a two-dimensional table through base table processing.
For data with excessive fields, you can also perform base table processing.
To prepare for data analysis, further data cleaning and conversion through basic processing are required.
Data Preparation
Field Type Conversion
Upload the raw Excel data to FineBI.
Create a folder in Public Data, select the folder, select Excel Dataset, upload the sample data, and click OK, as shown in the following figure.
During loading, set Field Type to Text for the Employee ID field, as shown in the following figure.
You can upload the two sheets of an Excel table at the same time. Namely, you can also upload the Employee Info table. For details, see Adding Excel Datasets.
If the raw data of the Excel data used in this example is obtained from a database, you can click the Edit button and modify the field type, as shown in the following figure.
Field Location Adjustment
You can adjust the field location in the data table in FineBI, as shown in the following figure.
Row-Column Conversion
If you need to convert the data from a one-dimensional table to a two-dimensional table, you can use Row-Column Conversion, as shown in the following figure.

Self-Looping Column
For a series of hierarchical data with regular ID numbers, you can use self-looping columns to establish the hierarchical relationship among the data.
For details, see Self-Looping Column (Hierarchy Based on One Column of Data), Self-Looping Column (Hierarchy Based on Two Columns of Data), and Row-to-Column Conversion.
