Overview
Version
To connect each other remotely, the versions of FineReport and FineBI need to be compatible. For details, see FineBI and FineReport Version Compatibility Instructions.
Preview
After the FineReport designer is remotely connected to FineBI, you can click Test Connection. Then a prompt indicating a successful remote connection is displayed, as shown in the following figure.
Implementation Method
Add a working directory in the FineReport designer and configure FineBI information. Then click Test Connection to check whether the connection is successful.
Permission Range
After the connection, only the super admin can create server datasets in the FineReport designer. Other users can only perform remote connections and use data connections on which they have permissions, but cannot create server datasets or edit data connections.

Adding a Working Directory
You need to remotely connect the downloaded and installed FineReport designer to the FineBI server.
1. Open the designer and choose File > Switch Working Directory > Others, as shown in the following figure.
2) Click in the Configure Working Directory popup and create a remote server connection directory, as shown in the figure below.
Configuring the FineBI Remote Server
Rename the added remote server connection as FineBI and fill in the configuration information in the Configure Working Directory popup on the right.
The configuration information is shown in the following table.

Testing Connection
Click Test Connection. A prompt indicating a successful remote connection is displayed. Click OK. Then the FineReport is remotely connected to FineBI, as shown in the following figure.
