Data Directory is a repository for enterprise data. IT personnel prepares the data and places it in Data Directory, allowing business users to access and analyze the data within the analysis subject.
In Data Directory, users can view the data they have permission to access, while IT personnel can view and manage the data, as shown in the following figure.
You (the super administrator) first assign corresponding functional and data permissions on specific data to different users/roles in Permission Management, as shown in the following figure.
Data developer: You (the super administrator) need to assign the data developer the permissions to use and manage Data Directory and Indicator Center to the data developer.
Business personnel/Data analysis user: You (the super administrator) need to assign the business personnel and data analysis user the permissions to use metadata and business-related data.
Viewer: You (the super administrator) need to assign the viewer the component data permission.
Label Management: You (the super administrator) need to assign specific users/roles the permission to add, delete, and modify labels in Data Directory.
Indicator Center: You (the super administrator) need to assign specific users/roles the permission to edit Indicator Center.
Acceleration Management: You (the super administrator) need to assign specific users/roles the permission to accelerate fields in Indicator Center.
After IT personnel has deployed FineBI, enterprise databases need to be connected to FineBI in Data Connection Management under System Management > Data Connection.
In practice, business data is most commonly stored in databases and updated continuously. Establishing a connection between FineBI and a specific database enables FineBI to retrieve data from the database directly. For details about data connections, see Data Management Overview.
Data connections support various data sources.
Function entry: You can choose System Management > Data Connection > Data Connection Management.
Before adding data, you need to configure the attributes of the new base table first, as shown in the following figure.
You can select either extracted data or direct-connected data for the base table according to enterprise business scenarios as required. For details, see Difference Between Direct-Connected Data and Extracted Data.
First, you can create folders based on business scenarios, departments, or roles and follow a consistent naming convention. Then you can add data tables within the folders to facilitate configuring data permissions by folder later, as shown in the following figure.
After successful adding, you can preview the data, view lineage analysis, and update information. You can also edit and supplement information again in Data Details. The data table is shown below:
If your enterprise environment is in extraction mode, a data update is required. (For direct connection, no update setting is needed; data will be synchronized automatically.)
After adding all data, you can configure the scheduled update to periodically extract data to the latest status, as shown in the following figure.
Data update supports single-table update and folder update, with customizable update frequencies. For details, see Data Update Overview.
To implement unified management of data resources, IT personnel needs to preconfigure labels and extended fields. When outputting standardized data, the data will be classified by assigning labels and supplementing information with extended fields.
In Data Directory, you can click Attribute Setting and configure data labels and extended fields, as shown in the following figure.
You can add, modify, and view the corresponding content in Data Details, as shown in the following figure.
Indicator Center, as a conversion mechanism, transforms the needs of IT personnel into a form that is easy for business personnel to understand and utilize.
For details, see Indicator Center Overview.
Standardized fields and indicator sets output from Indicator Center can be published to Data Directory for use by data analysis users.
Business users with viewing permissions for Data Directory can access Data Directory.
1. Click All Data. You can search for data resources in the directory via the search box. For details, see Data Directory Search.
2. You can filter and preview data resources in the lower area, and quick operations on resources are also supported, as shown in the following figure.
Scenario one: You can preview the data in the table in Data Preview, as shown in the following figure.
Scenario two: After retrieving a specific data resource through a search, you can click View Details to enter the detail page, as shown in the following figure.
When previewing the data table, click Create Analysis Subject to create an analysis subject with the data, as shown in the following figure.
You can click the drop-down icon and select Add to Analysis Subject to add the data to the existing analysis subject, as shown in the following figure.
