Parallel Bar Chart

Application Scenario

Parallel bar charts, also known as partitioned bar charts, are used to display multiple bar charts in one view. Each bar has a consistent thickness for horizontal and vertical comparisons. Parallel bar charts can also be transformed into partitioned column charts.

The following figure shows the comparison of page views, number of visits, and other indicators of an Internet product in the three-level distribution channel.

Basic Requirement

Basic requirements for parallel bar charts are as follows.

Chart Feature

Advantage: Parallel bar charts clearly compare the differences in data volume of different indicators in the same dimension.

Disadvantage: Parallel bar charts are not suitable for large datasets.

Data Preparation

1. Log in to the system as the admin, click My Analysis, select a folder, and click New Subject, as shown in the following figure.

2. Search the example data Internet Channel Statistics in the search box of Public Data, as shown in the following figure.

Component Creation

1. Click Component in the lower left corner.

2. Click the Partitioned Column Chart icon in Chart Type, drag the Third-level channel name field into the Horizontal Axis, and the number of visits, pageviews, Bounces, and total stay time fields into the Vertical Axis.

3. Click the button to exchange fields for horizontal and vertical axes to convert the graph into a bar chart.

4. Rename the component to Parallel Column Chart. 

Component Beautifying

Label Setting

Drag the number of visits, pageviews, Bounces, and total stay time fields into the Label bar of the corresponding graphic property to display the values on the chart.

Color Setting

Drag the Indicator Name into the Color bar under All and click the icon to set the Scheme to Bright, as shown in the following figure.

You can set the parameters of Color, Size, Label, Prompt, and Fine-grained. For details, see Graphic Properties.

The chart can be displayed on both PC and mobile terminals.
