I. An Overview of Rader Chart
1) Radar chart, also known as a spider or polar chart, is a graphical tool that displays multivariate data in a two-dimensional form. Each variable is represented on its axis that starts from the center, allowing the visualization of similarities and differences on a scale, making it easy to spot which variables are scoring high or low. This format is particularly useful for comparing performance across multiple areas within a dataset, enhancing both analysis and decision-making processes in business and research environments.
2) Version
FineBI Version | Functional Change |
---|---|
6.0 | Hided axis lines and axis titles with the single partition. For details, see section "Notes." |
6.0.15 | Allowed you to set Polar Axis of the radar chart to Polygon and set the mark point style. For details, see section "Component Beautification." |
3) Application Scenario:The radar chart is also known as the polar chart or spider chart. All categories in the radar chart have their numerical axes, which radiate from the center. Values of the same series are connected by lines. The radar chart can display the relationship between independent data and the relationship between a series and other series (as a whole) of a product. For example, you can display the performance comparison between the mobile phone A and mobile phone B through a radar chart, as shown in the following figure.
4) Basic Requirement:The following table describes basic requirements for the polyline radar chart.
Chart Effect | Dimension Field | Indicator Field |
---|---|---|
Polyline Radar Chart | >= 1 | >= 1 |
5) Chart Feature
Advantage: The radar chart can display multiple key features of a dataset, helping you to compare the values of multiple records of data in multiple dimensions.
Disadvantage: The radar chart is not suitable for multicategory data.
II. Steps to Create a Rader Chart
Data Preparation
1. Log in to the system as the admin, click My Analysis, click a folder, and click New Subject.
2. Click Local Excel and click Upload Data, as shown in the following figure.
You can download the example data Mobile Phone Comparison.xlsx.
Component Creation
1. Click Add Component in the lower left corner.
2. Click the Polyline Radar Chart icon in Chart Type and drag Characteristics to Horizontal Axis and Mobile Phone A and Mobile Phone B to Vertical Axis, as shown in the following figure.
Component Beautification
Drag Indicator Name to Color and set colors for two fields, as shown in the following figure.
You can set Color, Size, Label, Prompt, and Fine-grained at the same time. For details, see Graphic Properties.
You can also set Legend, Grid Line, Background, Adaptation Display, and so on for the component.
You can set Polar Axis of the radar chart to Polygon and set the mark point style in FineBI 6.0.15 and later versions, as shown in the following figure.
Effect Display
On PC
On Mobile Terminals
The following figure shows the preview effect on the DataAnalyst app and in HTML5.
Notes
Axis lines and axis titles are hidden with a single partition (namely, only one dimension on the vertical axis) in FineBI6.0, as shown in the following figure.
