Google Ads is an online advertising program provided by Google. With a Google Ads account, you can customize budgets and targets for advertising, and analyze ad performance through data such as exposures, click-through rates, and costs. This article will introduce how to use CDATA to connect Google Ads in FineReport.
Preparation
Driver Preparation
1. Downloading the Driver

Download the appropriate installation package based on different systems such as Windows, Cross-Platform Unix, Linux and Mac. |
2. Installing the Driver
After unzipping the installation package, you need to install the driver locally. The directory after installation is shown as follows:
Note: You can refer to the readme.htm file for instructions of using the driver.
3. Logging in the Driver
CDATA Driver has a one-month trial period, and requires payment if you want to use afterwards. The version used this time is the trial version.
Lib directory of installed driver is shown as follows:
Copy the files in the lib directory to this path: D:\FineReport\webapps\webroot\WEB-INF\lib
Information for Data Connection
1. Basic Parameters

developerToken | With a developer token, you can access the Google Ads API and perform the following oerations: 1. Use the same developer token to make requests to all Google Ads accounts. 2. Log in to your manager account with developer token, and you can navigate to the API Center page. |
2. Acquisition Methods
clientCustomerld: Click https://ads.google.com/home/tools/manager-accounts/ to register or login to your Google account to obtain a customer ID.
developerToken: Enter the Google Ads API center to obtain it, as is shown below:
Connection Steps
Testing Data Connection with CDATA Testing Tool
1. In the directory where the driver is installed, you can directly execute java -jar cdata.jdbc.googleads.jar to open the window for connection test provided by CDATA and fill in the information retrieved in section “Acquisition Methods”.
2. When the connection test is successful, you need to copy the information in the Connection String, such as googleads:AuthScheme=OAuth;DeveloperToken=(developer token);ClientCustomerId=(customer ID);InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH
Testing Data Connection in FineReport
1. Open the designer and create a data connection named Others.
2. Copy cdata.jdbc.googleads.GoogleAdsDriver, and paste it into the field of Driver.
3. Fill in the copied information from section "Testing the connection with CDATA testing tool" in the URL, for example, googleads:AuthScheme=OAuth;DeveloperToken=(developer token);ClientCustomerId=(customer ID);InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH
4. Click Test Connection, and when it prompts Successfully Connected, click OK to proceed with normal data extraction operations.
