Overview
This document introduces how to switch dataset attributes and create tables in the Direct-Connected Data and Extracted Data modes.
Direct-Connected Data: The direct connection database directly requests data, which do not need to be extracted to the FineBI disk. Therefore, you do not need to update data.
Extracted Data: FineBI extracts data from your database to the FineBI disk. That is, data is stored in the local computer, accelerating the computation. However, you need to update data regularly.
Operation Method
Switchover of Dataset Attribute Setting
Choose Public Data and click the setting icon in the upper left corner to switch the dataset attribute, as shown in the following figure.
Dataset Creation
After switching the attribute, click Add Dataset to create a dataset with the corresponding attribute.
The icon of the direct connection dataset has an underscore, which does not exist in the icon of the extraction dataset, as shown in the following figure.
Notes
The dataset with the direct connection attribute does not synchronize data in the database in real time. By default, the system requests data from the database every 600 seconds. That is, data is refreshed every 600 seconds. If you want to change the refresh interval (600 seconds by default), you can refer to the document BI Cache.
You are not advised to use data tables with the direct connection attribute in large-data-volume scenarios with low-performance databases (such as MySQL with over ten million data).
