Overview
Version
FineBI Version | Plugin Version | Functional Change |
---|---|---|
6.0 | V1.0 | - |
6.0.4 | V1.0.16 | Added Subject Suggested to Be Merged. Added Data Replacement. Supported Data Replacement in User Analysis. |
6.0.12 | Adapted to Subject Model. |
Application Scenario
After you upgrade FineBI from version 5.1 to 6.0, the original datasets and dashboards (two distinct entities in 5.1) are stored separately as analysis subjects, as shown in the following figure.
For details about compatibility strategies, see section "Compatible Storage Location After Upgrade" in FineBI 6.0 Compatibility Instruction.
In this case, you need to organize these datasets and dashboards and merge them through analysis subjects.
For example, after you upgrade FineBI, the original Table Type dashboard becomes an analysis subject, but the dataset used in the dashboard is not in the current subject, as shown in the following figure.
Function Description
You can merge the dataset and dashboard (original ones in 5.1) into one same analysis subject through the Subject Merge plugin to facilitate your data management.
Notes
Only My Analysis supports the plugin function.
Plugin Installation
Plugin Downloading
Download the plugin:bi-plugin-nprogress-1.0.16.zip. Log in to FineBI as the admin, choose System Management > Plugin Management > Install From Local, select the downloaded plugin file, and click Open in the pop-up dialog box, as shown in the following figure.
Plugin Description
1. Plugin Function Entry
Go to My Analysis, click the icon, and select Organize Subject Quickly from the drop-down list.
2. Interface Introduction
The following figure shows the function interface.
Functional Area | Description |
---|---|
My Analysis List | You can select the to-be-merged subjects. |
Post-Merge Subject | You can set the target subject. (Other subjects will be merged into the target subject.) Only the target subject with its configuration will be retained. (Other merged subjects with their configuration will be deleted.) The deletion of to-be-merged subjects and the modification of the target subject are supported. |
Subject Suggested to Be Merged | 1. The dataset used in the component is in the subject in My Analysis, not in the subject in Collaborated With Me. 2. If the dataset used in the component is the one you published to Public Data, the subject where that dataset is located before being published to Public Data will be suggested to be merged. The dataset is not in the subject that has been selected from My Analysis List. The subject where the dataset is located has only that dataset. (This subject specifically refers to the original single dataset subject compatible with version 6.0 of FineBI.) |
Data Replacement | The data used by the subjects merged by you will be replaced with tables in My Analysis as much as possible for a smoother analysis experience. Replace Partially: Only datasets for which Permission Inheritance is enabled are replaced, in which case permissions remain unchanged before and after the replacement. Replace All: Permissions may be different before and after the replacement. |
Example
Example Background
1. You have created two datasets: Group Table and Cross Table.
After upgrading FineBI, you stored the two datasets separately as analysis subjects in My Analysis and published them to Public Data.
In Public Data of FineBI 5.1, the Group Table dataset has enabled Permission Inheritance, but Cross Table does not.
2. The Table Type subject is created by using the dataset published to Public Data.
Now you want to replace the dataset, published to Public Data in 5.1 and used for creating the component in Table Type, with the one in My Analysis.
Subject Merging
Click My Analysis, click the icon, and select Organize Subject Quickly from the drop-down list, as shown in the following figure.
Select Table Type, Group Table, and Cross Table from My Analysis List to add them to the right area. (The first selected subject is set to the target subject by default, and the two datasets Group Table and Cross Table are stored separately as analysis subjects.)

Data Replacement
Select Replace Partially and click OK to replace the target subject's source dataset (enabling Permission Inheritance in Public Data and used to create components) with those in My Analysis.
Effect Display
1. Subject Merge Effect
Two datasets are newly added to the Table Type subject and thus the subject merging succeeds, as shown in the following figure.
2. Data Replacement Effect
The dataset used in the Group Table subject has enabled Permission Inheritance, and thus the components' source datasets will be switched to the datasets added to the subject.
The dataset used to create components in the Cross Table subject is still the one from Public Data.
If you want to replace the dataset without permission inheritance in Public Data with the one in My Analysis, you can select Replace All when you perform a subject merging.
User Analysis
If you want to replace users' data with those in My Analysis, you need to log in as the super admin, click My Analysis, click the icon, and select User Analysis from the drop-down list first.
And then, you can click the icon and select Replace User's Table from the drop-down list. In the pop-up dialog box, you can perform data replacement in batches on all users' subjects or select a certain subject to do the replacement.
The effect is the same as that in section "Data Replacement Effect."
