Application Scenarios
The increasing usage time and user data of FineBI cause more and more data, components, and dashboards in the system.
1. Updating, disk usage, and searching of normal tables are affected.
2. A large amount of data, components, and dashboards in the system are abandoned or expired, but you are not sure whether they can be deleted.
Function Description
FineBI 6.0 provides the recycle bin function to store deleted analysis resources, including data, components, and dashboards.
All deleted resources will be moved to the recycle bin. If you need them again, you can retrieve them from the recycle bin.
Prerequisites
You need to register FineBI, otherwise, you cannot use Recycle Bin.
For details, see Registration Introduction.

Introduction to Recycle Bin
Resource Scope
Design users log into FineBI, click Recycle Bin to see the deleted resources.
1. The recycle bin function is only available to design users, not to view users.
2. Super admins have management permissions for the recycle bin resources of all users, which cannot be assigned to sub-admins. Ordinary design users can only manage their own recycle bin resources.
3. The recycle bin only stores data, components, and dashboards deleted from Public Data and My Analysis. It does not store deleted folders, subjects, associated relationships, or permission configurations.
4. The extracted table will no longer be updated after being moved to the recycle bin.
User Type | Range |
Design users | All deleted data, components, and dashboards created by the currently logged-in users in My Analysis. |
Super admins | All data, components, and dashboards deleted by users in My Analysis. All deleted datasets in Public Data. |
You can only view the basic information of resources in the recycle bin. You cannot perform editing, preview and other operations, including:
Data: cannot edit, move, share, rename, save as, update, create components, and create datasets.
Dashboard/Component: cannot preview, move, share, rename, or save as.
Basic information:
Information | Introduction |
Name | Name of the resource. |

Delete user | Name of the user who deletes the resource. |
Path | Position where the resources are stored before being deleted. |

Restoring Resources
Procedure
The creator of resources can restore them in Recycle Bin.
Super admins can restore all resources in Recycle Bin.
To restore the resources in My Analysis, you need to select and confirm where to place before restoring them. You can place the restored resources in subject created by yourself or in Collaborated with Me in My Analysis.
To restore the resources in Public Data, you need to select and confirm where to place before restoring them. You can only select the folder in Public Data to place the restored resources.
To restore resources, log into FineBI, click Recycle Bin, select the resources to be restored, and click Restore.
Then you need to choose the storage position for resources, and click OK.
Notes about restoration done:
1. The previous associations between tables cannot be recovered. You can rebuild the associations as needed.
2. Tables without data lineage are highlighted in red.
3. If you cannot find the component or dashboard after restoration, treat it as data loss.
4. It is impossible to restore the sharing, public links, publishing, hanging out and other states before restoration.
Function limitation
1. To restore the resources in My Analysis of an ordinary user, the super admin needs to select the analysis subject in the corresponding user’s My Analysis, unable to restore it to other users’ My Analysis.
2. When restoring resouces in batches, you are not allowed to select resources of multiple users simultaneously. Otherwise, the restoration may fail and it will prompt:
Unable to restore the resource of multiple users at the same time, please select single user.
3. If there is a file with the same name in the selected position, the restoration will fail and it will prompt:
Restore failed, datasets with duplicated name exists.
Restore failed, components with duplicated name exists.
4. When restoring in resources batches, if there are files with the same name in the selected position, files with different names will be successfully restored, while those with the same name will fail to be restored and it will prompt:
Some datasets/components/dashboards fail to restore.
Permanent Deletion
The creator of resources can permanently delete them in Recycle Bin.
Super admins can permanently delete all resources in Recycle Bin.
Once deleted permanently, the resources cannot be retrieved. Delete the index table and the corresponding DB file will also be deleted.
Auto Cleanup
In V6.1.5 and later versions, you can enable Auto Cleanup to clean up the resource in Recycle Bin periodically to stabilize the system and reduce the burden on the system resource.
