Support modifying the amount of data that triggers big data editing mode. If you do not want to enter the big data editing mode because of the incomplete data display, you can modify the parameter value. For details, see section "Modifying the Parameter of Big Data Editing Mode".

    Application Scenarios

When there is so much data, the big data editing mode will be triggered, and this mode's corresponding visual or interactive effects will be limited for better performance. However, due to the lack of relevant prompts, you may not know the reason for this phenomenon.

If the data volume just exceeds the threshold value, you may not want to display data incompletely in the big data editing mode. So you can modify the parameter value. For details, see section "Modifying the Parameter of Big Data Editing Mode".

    Functions

When the big data editing mode is triggered, it will prompt: Has entered the big data editing mode or The amount of data is too large. It is recommended to reduce the amount of data in the original table or reduce the number of dimension fields to be dragged in. In big data mode, some interactive visual effects are not supported.

Explanation of Big Data Editing Mode

If there are more than 5,000 groups of data and the chart being edited meets one of the following four scenarios, the big data editing mode will be triggered automatically.

    Scenario 1

The horizontal and vertical axes include one or more indicator fields, and indicator fields are on different axes. The supported chart types include bar chart, line chart, scatter chart, and map.

Note: No more than 2 indicator fields are allowed on the horizontal and vertical axes, and no more than 4 chart attribute fields for a single indicator.

    2.png

    Scenario 2

The horizontal and vertical axes include one or more indicator fields, and indicator fields are on different axes. Other indicator fields are placed outside of the horizontal and vertical axes. The supported chart types include bar chart, line chart, scatter chart and map.

Note: No more than 2 indicator fields are allowed on the horizontal and vertical axes, and no more than 4 chart attribute fields for a single indicator.

    Scenario 3

The horizontal and vertical axes include one or more indicator fields. Other indicator fields are placed outside of the horizontal and vertical axes. Scatter chart is supported.

Note: No more than 4 chart attribute fields for a single indicator.

    Scenario 4

The horizontal and vertical axes include one or more indicator fields. Scatter chart is supported.

Note: No more than 2 indicator fields are allowed on the horizontal and vertical axes, and at most 4 chart attribute fields for a single indicator.

    Front-End Visual and Interactive Restrictions

Because of the large amount of data, FineBI will limit and simplify the front-end visual and interactive effects to ensure the normal display of chart data for big data. Here are some examples of affected scenarios.

    1. Gradient color for lines is not supported in the flow map. Instead, the map will be filled with the color of a certain point.

    2. Pagination in big data mode may have a misalignment in the dashed line of line chart at the joint of pages.

    3. Pagination in big data mode may have a truncated path for the curve fitting if the path goes beyond the current page.

    4. When there are more than 3,000 groups of data, data labels and graphic markers are not displayed in the flow map, and data labels are not displayed in area map.

    5. Threshold line is not supported.

    6. Optimization for axis label display range is not supported, resulting in axis label rotation being truncated by the axis line in the big data editing mode.

    7. Axis intervals interaction will be affected.

    8. Legends interaction will be affected.

    9. The component cannot adaptively adjust/adapt automatically when you zoom the browser.

    10. Blinking animation effect and image filling are not supported.

    11. When you hover the mouse cursor over graphics, the graphics cannot be displayed on the top layer.

Modifying the Parameter of Big Data Editing Mode

    Background

More than 5,000 grouped data will trigger big data editing mode. However, the data volume may just exceed the threshold value, so you may not want to display data incompletely in the big data editing mode.

    Method

Add a parameter configuration in FineDB to adjust the number of grouped data that triggers the big data editing mode. The default number is 5,000.

    Procedure

    1. Use the data in the FINE_CONF_ENTITY table.

    2. Add a new row of parameter, SystemOptimizationConfig.bigDataModeThreshold, and fill in the value.

    3. Restart FineBI.
