Application Scenarios
If you have management permissions for a certain data connection, you can do the following operations in Manage > Data Connection > Data Connection Management:
1. Perform operations such as copying, renaming, modifying, and deleting data connections with permissions.
2. Create, edit, and delete data connections with permissions.
3. Create server datasets through data connections with permissions.
Example
Assign Manage permission of the data connection BI Demo to Maintenance engineer in Development department.
Enabling Data Connection Control
The super admin logs into FineBI, goes to Manage > Permission > Global Setting, enables Hierarchical Authorization and Data Connection Control, and clicks Save.
Note: If Hierarchical Authorization is disabled, Manage permission for Data Connection cannot be assigned to other users.
Assigning Manage Permission of Data Connection
The admin logs into FineBI, goes to Manage > Permission > General permission configuration, and selects the permission carrier Dept., Role, or users from User List.
Take Maintenance engineer in Development department as an example. Select Data Connection tab and assign the Manage permission of the data connection BI Demo to Maintenance engineer.
Note: If you have Manage permissions for data connections, you will have Use permissions at the same time.
Configuring Use Permissions of Management System
The admin logs into FineBI, goes to Manage > Permission > General permission configuration, and selects the permission carrier Dept., Role, or users from User List.
Take Maintenance engineer in Development department as an example. Select Manage, and configure the Use permission of Data Connection for Maintenance engineer.
Demonstration
Maintenance engineer Jenny logs into FineBI and clicks Manage > Data Connection. She can:
1. View specific information about data connection of the BI Demo and manage it including testing connection, editing, renaming, copying, deleting.
2. Create data connections and use and edit the created data connections.
3. Create server datasets through BI Demo.
