A common user wants to create/edit/delete a data connection.
A common user wants to use a data connection to set scheduled/pipeline tasks and release APIs.
The super admin wants to assign a user the permission to edit and delete data connections.
The super admin wants a user to be able to assign permission to create, edit, delete, and use data connections to other users.
This article describes data connection permission.
For FineDataLink 4.1.12.3 and later versions, you can use folders to manage data connections, as shown in the following figure.
If common users want to create or modify data connections in a folder, you need to assign them Management permission on that folder.
Permission Granting Steps
1. Choose System Management > Permission Management, click the Global Setting button, and enable Hierarchical Authorization and Data Connection Control, as shown in the following figure.
2. Assign Use permission on Data Connection, as shown in the following figure.
User-Performable Operations
The user-performable operations so far are described in the following table.
1. The user can access Data Connection Management, where:
The user can create data connections in the root directory.
The user can configure settings under Connection Management > Global Setting and use the connection pool.
The user cannot access the Driver Management module, which is managed by the super admin only.
2. The user can access Server Dataset, where:
The user can create datasets in the root directory.
The user cannot create data connections if not assigned Management permission on the root directory or the folder.
The user can configure settings under Connection Management > Global Setting.
You can continue assigning users the Use, Management, and Authorization permission on data connections after finishing the steps in the section "Permission Granting Steps."
For details, see Data Connection Usage Permission, Data Connection Management Permission, and Data Connection Authorization Permission.
1. You can continue assigning users, roles, and departments the Use and Management permission on data connections and data connection folders (supported in FineDataLink 4.1.12.3 and later versions) after finishing the steps in the section "Permission Granting Steps."
2. You can continue assigning users, roles, and departments the Authorization permission on data connections and data connection folders (supported in FineDataLink 4.1.12.3 and later versions) after finishing the steps in the section "Permission Granting Steps."
Description of data connection permission:
1. After being granted Use permission only, the user can view and use data connections.
2. After being granted Management permission, the user has Use permission automatically. Furthermore, the user can modify data connection configurations, and copy, delete, rename, and move data connections.
3. After being granted Authorization permission on a data connection:
The subordinate admin can assign corresponding permission on the data connection to manageable users under System Management > Permission Management.
Description of server dataset permission:
1. After being granted Use permission on a server dataset:
The user can use the server dataset.
The user can edit, preview, delete, and rename the server dataset after being granted Use permission on the data connection that the server dataset depends on.
2. After being granted Authorization permission on a server dataset:
The subordinate admin can assign corresponding permission on the server dataset to manageable users under System Management > Permission Management.
After being granted Use, Management, and Authorization permission on a folder, the user has Use, Management, and Authorization permission on all the data connections in the folder.
1. Use
After being granted Use permission on a folder, the user can view this folder, but cannot modify or move the folder, nor create a data connection in this folder.
After being granted Use permission on a data connection, the user can view the data connection and use it in data development tasks.
2. Management
After being granted Management permission on a folder, the user has Use permission automatically. Furthermore, the user can delete, rename, and move the folder, and create data connections in this folder.
