Application Scenarios

Authorization Migration plugin can be used in the following scenarios:

1. Major version upgrades (like from FineBI 5.0 to FineBI 5.1 and from FineBI 5.1 to FineBI 6.0)

2. Server migration

FineBI project uses local machine information authentication. The authorization information of the project needs to be migrated, because the Mac addresses of the old and new FineBI project servers are different.

Functions

If the FineBI project uses local machine information authentication, there are two methods available for you to migrate authorization information.

1. Local machine information authentication migration program (with cumbersome migration programs)

2. Local machine information authentication authorization migration plugin (with simple and easy operations). This document introduces how to use the plugin for you to migrate authorization information.

Users export the information of new and old projects and send it to business personnel, who will generate the Authorization Migration plugin for users and send to them.

Users install and run the plugin on the old FineBI project, destroy the authorization information of the old FineBI project, and generate the authorization information of the new FineBI project.

Notes

You are advised to use a simpler and faster registration method: Local Container Authentication.

1. Before migrating through License, you need to ensure that the old FineBI project can be started normally on the original server.

2. The Authorization Migration plugin can only be used for one migration. If you need to migrate again after finishing the migration, contact the business personnel again to obtain a new migration tool.

3. You cannot migrate authorization information with temporary registration. To register formally, see Local Machine Information Authentication.

Preparing Materials

Relevant Materials for Old Project

1. Version information Screenshot of the old FineBI project

Log in to the old FineBI project as the admin, choose System Management > Registration Management > Version Information, and obtain the complete Version Information screenshot of the old FineBI project.

2. Registration information file (in RIF format) of the old FineBI project

Log in to the old FineBI project as the admin, choose System Management > Registration Management > Version Information, click Export Registration Information to export the registration information file (in RIF format) of the old FineBI project.

Relevant Materials for New Project

Log in to the new FineBI project as the admin, choose System Management > Registration Management > Version Information, and obtain the complete version information screenshot of the new FineBI project.

2. Registration information file (in RIF format) for the new BI project

Log into the new FineBI project as the admin, choose System Management > Registration Management, and click Register Now.

Select Local Machine Info as Authentication Method, click Export Registration Information, and export the registration information file (in RIF format) of the new FineBI project.

3.Project name of the new FineBI project

Go to the path %FR_HOME%\webapps\ of the FineBI project server to confirm the project name of web (defaults to webroot).

You can modify the project name as needed before registration. It cannot be modified after registration.

Note:

Modify the project name with caution, because changing it may affect settings like the hyperlink of a template.

To change the project name is to change the name of this folder. After modification, the address for accessing the project becomes http://IP address:Port number/Project name/decision.

Obtaining Authorization Migration Plugin

Use the email address specified in the contract to send the registration information to FineBI business personnel (business@fanruan.com). The email format is as follows.

After receiving and verifying your email, the business personnel will generate the authorization migration plugin and email it to you.

Note:

Indicate the special circumstances (if any) in the email.

Installing the Plugin on the Old Project

Log in to the old FineBI project as the admin, choose System Management > Plugin Management, click Local Install, and select the Authorization Migration plugin sent by the business personnel. After successful installation, a prompt pops up: Lic Migration Plugin was installed successfully.

Running Migration Plugin

Log in to the old FineBI project as the admin, choose System Management > Registration Management > Authorization Migration, and click Destroy and Activate.

The plugin will automatically destroy the authorization information of the old report project (with a destruction certificate file FanruanLic.DC), and generate the registration Lic for the new report project.

Note:

1. Users can obtain the destruction certificate file through the following path and provide the file for FineRuan technical supports.
The destruction certificate file of the standalone environment is stored in the path %BI_HOME%/webroot/WEB-INF/resources. The destruction certificate file of the cluster environment is stored in the path /WEB-INF/resources of the file server.

2. Wait with patience. It takes some time to destroy the old authorization information. If you refresh the browser window before the destruction is successful, a 404 error will be caused. Only the destruction is successful can the migration page be displayed and can you obtain the new Lic.

3. If the new obtained license is accidentally losed, the admin can click Destroy and Activate again in Authorization Migration within 10 hours after the old authorization information is destroyed for the first time.

Then a new registration Lic file for the report project will be generated (the previous one becoming invalid).

Registering on the New Project

Log in to the FineBI system as the admin, choose System Management > Registration Management > Version Information, and click Upload lic to import the authorization file FanRuan.lic.

The registration is successful if the operations above are correct.

Note:

1. The FanRuan.lic file will be automatically saved under the path %BI-HOME%\webroot\WEB-INF\resources of the current project.

2. After the registration is successful on the new FineBI project, promptly delete the Authorization Migration plugin on the old FineBI project.

A failure prompt may pop up when you click Destroy and Activate under System Management > Registration Management > Authorization Migration of the old FineBI project.

This section provides detailed reasons for various error messages.

1. Server Unregistered or Registered Temporarily

Unregistered FineBI project cannot perform the operation of destroying the authorization file. Contact business personnel for formal registration.

Temporarily registered FineBI project cannot perform the operation of migrating authorization information. Contact business personnel for formal registration.

Failed to Activate New Authorization Information with Mismatched Server Machine Code

The server machine code in the file A (in RIF format) of the old FineBI project is not consistent with that of the old FineBI server where the plugin is located.

Verify that the plugin is installed in the correct old BI project that needs to perform migration, rather than in the new FineBI project or other projects.

Unable to Activate the Activated Authorization Information

If the unique identifier of the old and new FineBI projects' license is completely the same, the authorization information of the project cannot be migrated.

The Authorization Migration plugin can only be used once. If you need to migrate again after finishing the first migration, contact the business personnel again to obtain a new migration tool.
